@notnullptr @DiabloJimbei @verypedro @ginyoagoldie there's some asymmetry going on between art and programming culture when it comes to how the work is judged, i think. one could frame industry art the same way i framed code as "mathematical execution", where an artist's objective is rigid and strictly dictated.
English

@DiabloJimbei @AnAxeDraws @verypedro @ginyoagoldie i think this is ultimately why so many people don’t gaf about it. the difference between you and them is that they’d vocally disagree with me but you can acknowledge that vibe coding is Generally Bad whilst also not necessarily saying AI in programming is always bad either
English

also it wasnt made in just a day or anything!
I had spent around 6 months on it, on and off, adding and fixing features.
Im against AI for when it backstabs artist, with this site im trying to use it to help them become one

i made a website you can animate on! a bit buggy.. but it works.. lmk what yall think! ginyo.space/celstomp

@notnullptr @verypedro @ginyoagoldie I wanted to ask if a flaw in code is serious enough that it objectively requires replacement, but I suppose that implies all code must be a tool, which I can see isn't true. even my own code has resulted in emergence through mistakes. exploits come to mind, too.
English

@AnAxeDraws @verypedro @ginyoagoldie i think if this is your perspective on what art is (and i’d be inclined to agree), then programming and code are absolutely art . these qualities are all present in human written code
English

@notnullptr @verypedro @ginyoagoldie to be clear I am still struggling to work out my thoughts on this. i dont even think AI art "isn't art", but I think it misses a big part of why I like art. i think the human experience is illustrated by the flaws and shortcuts developed while learning.
English

@notnullptr @verypedro @ginyoagoldie i suppose the argument is that programming has mathematically correct solutions. I'm not sure there's a creative charm to making an app that crashes or perform poorly? in art, the mistakes and quirks in your process are seen as expressions of humanity. is that true in code?

@ZainNaghmi my expertise is in devil daggers, but i often cite L cancelling as an example of redundant tech. my novice understanding is that there's never a good reason to not L cancel, and I think that lack of nuance for such a high frequency input is generally poor design.
