@fogaratigh When people see Martin/Harris speak with contempt, they're forgetting that those goons have their audience too.
I would say the majority of the population are perfectly happy with FF/FG's punitively high taxes, given it's those taxes that pay for their existence.
From what I can see, the average chap on the #FuelProtests is a man who gets up anywhere between 4 and 7am, throws on damp clothes and sets off in the depths of winter to do a hard days work. The type calling them names works for the government or are on the dole.
@OisinRichards@fogaratigh No, it’s were blocking this refinery so no fuel can get into the country. No trucks to deliver to supermarkets or emergency services. Quite right that the government needs to restore order.
@fogaratigh We can barely afford to live, we are being taxed into poverty, our people can't get housing, our children are raped and stabbed, our communities are being flooded with foreign people.
Irish Government - Send in the army.
Diabolically Evil.
@fdesmet2021@fogaratigh You see the evil right there. You’d actually love to see shelves go bare so families and elderly people can’t feed themselves. That’s just twisted.
@fogaratigh There is a better way. A quiet way. No protests. No blockades. Commercial truck drivers plan ahead, stock up, then take a few weeks off at home with their families. No one to arrest. Fuel soon runs out. Shelves go bare. Panic. Chaos. Let the government beg YOU for relief.
@SaintMedia10 No. The crime is blockading streets roads and ports. And it’s about time the gardaí dealt with it. They have been far too soft all week, letting mob rule by hooligans take over the country.
"The government waited until the city was asleep to wage war on its own people. By 3 AM, O'Connell Street was flooded with 300 riot police—not to negotiate, but to silence. They have shut down every access point, treating farmers and hauliers like criminals for the 'crime' of asking to afford their livelihoods.
The Spokesman’s Response: 'This morning's show of force proves the state is terrified of the truth. They can clear a street at 3 AM, but they can't clear the fact that 600 stations are dry and the people are broken. We offered to facilitate emergency routes; the state responded with batons and blockades of their own. If they think clearing O'Connell Street ends this, they don't understand the West. The engines are off, but the fire is just getting started.'
The Current Reality: As of 8:00 AM, the Luas is suspended, the bridges are sealed, and the Army remains on high alert at the depots. The 'graduated response' is over—this is now a total state of enforcement. 🫵🏻🇮🇪 #Day6#OConnellStreet#IrelandProtest#GardaCrackdown
@brianmlucey They are looking for fuel price caps on white diesel and home heating oil along with removal of the carbon tax. These measures would reduce costs for all road diesel users, use in construction, fire protection, emergency generators, and home heating. Helping outside their orbit.
The majority of people blockading the roads are not 'farmers' in the sense of an old fella running some sheep and growing a few cabbage. They are businessmen, with multimillion capital investments in heavy machinery. What they want is a sectoral handout.
@Jayji1008@Barra15505850@RealEddieHobbs No. But you don’t have a right to blockade streets, main roads, ports and refineries. You don’t have a right to disrupt citizens going about their lives. Getting to work, school, hospital appointments etc. stand outside the Dail or on the side of the road and protest all you want
BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: Fuel Protest spokesman responds to over 300 Gardai taking O’Connell Street by force around 3 AM and shutting off all street access.
@SammySm58130939@micheal_olainn No. They’re not. Agriculture contributes about 1% of GDP and about 60% of farmers’ incomes come from subsidies and payments from the government and EU. Backbone of this country my arse.
The fuel protest in Ireland is a right wing led direct and hostile assault on Irish representative democracy and is in favour of a small elite of individuals who want to strong-arm the Government into submission to their narrow self interest.
@BDowd60359@micheal_olainn Eh … he’s defending the Irish taxpayer. Because if the government gives in to this blackmail and caps fuel prices who is picking up the tab of billions of euro? The Irish taxpayer.
@TheLiberal_ie About time this lawlessness was dealt with. We can’t have random hooligans blocking streets, major roads, ports and refineries. If the State gives in to this blackmail everyone with a grievance will just do the same.
