I was once a classroom teacher, a Licensed Professional Teacher in the Philippines, trained to educate, inspire, and shape young minds. I thought that would already be my lifelong path. A stable profession. A respectable dream. A safe future.
But somewhere inside me, there was a quiet voice whispering that I was built for more.
So I left the classroom.
Not because I hated teaching, but because I wanted to discover who I could become outside the four corners of it. I entered the corporate world and worked in Business Development. I stepped into sales, negotiations, persuasion, and commission-based work. Industries where your confidence becomes your currency, and your courage determines your growth.
Still, there was one world I refused to understand.
Crypto.
Web3.
Blockchain.
To me, they sounded like dangerous words wrapped in hype and uncertainty. I was a Web2 native, someone who grew up trusting traditional systems, tangible earnings, and predictable outcomes. I feared losing my hard-earned money to something invisible and volatile.
My logic was simple: “Why would I risk my money on crypto when I can spend it on things that make me happy now?”
Shoes. Clothes. Online shopping carts filled at midnight. At least those things were real.
For two years, we argued about it.
He tried explaining crypto to me countless times. I challenged every idea. I doubted every opportunity. But despite all my resistance, he never gave up on me.
Instead, he patiently exposed me to the world he believed in.
He brought me to Web3 events. Introduced me to blockchain communities. Let me meet builders, creators, and dreamers. Allowed me to witness a space that was far more than I expected.
And slowly, something started changing in me.
The social media algorithm that once fed me meaningless entertainment suddenly became filled with trading content, Web3 education, blockchain discussions, and stories of people building communities from scratch.
What changed first was not my wallet.
It was my mindset.
That became my pivot.
One thing about my partner was that he always had vision. For years, he dreamed of building a trading community, not just for traders, but for people searching for opportunity, growth, and belonging.
But at the time, those dreams only lived inside his mind.
And honestly, I could not help him before because I did not understand his world. I did not understand the direction he wanted to take.
Until one day, I finally did.
When I truly understood Web3, I finally saw the vision he had been carrying all along.
And I told him:
“I will help you build this.”
“I will help you fund this.”
“We’re locked in.”
That was the moment everything changed.
In January 2025, he met Sir Jose, someone who eventually became a father figure, mentor, and guiding force in his life. Through encouragement and support, he was pushed to finally build the community he had dreamed about for years.
What once felt impossible suddenly became real.
And together, we co-founded a trading community that started from nothing but belief, passion, and late-night conversations.
With the support of Bitget, that dream evolved into @ascentacademy17 , now one of the growing Bitget communities in the Philippines, proudly based in Cebu.
A community where everyone is welcome.
Beginners.
Traders.
Students.
Dreamers.
People simply looking for a place to belong.
Then life surprised us even more.
2025 became the year of our plot twist.
We attended Bitget-hosted events.
Celebrated Pizza Day.
Became Builders.
Connected with people who once felt unreachable.
And by 2026, I found myself becoming part of the organizing team for one of Bitget SEA’s biggest events in the Philippines.
I met the VP of Bitget. I hosted International Women’s Day events. I spoke during BUILDHERS and shared my story in front of people who were once strangers to me.
And in those moments, I realized something that changed me forever:
Maybe I never truly left teaching.
Maybe Web3 simply gave me a bigger classroom.
Today, I still educate, just in a different way. Through communities. Through events. Through conversations. Through helping people believe in themselves the same way others once believed in me.
What makes this journey even more beautiful is the people I met along the way.
The Web3 space gave me more than opportunities.
It gave me family.
Through the Bitget Builders community, I found friendships that became genuine connections. People from different places, backgrounds, and stories somehow became part of my life in ways I never expected.
It is amazing how a space you once feared can eventually become a place that feels like home.
Of course, the journey was never perfect.
There were setbacks. Challenges. Moments of uncertainty. Moments when building felt heavier than dreaming.
But I no longer see struggles as signs to stop.
I see them as proof that we are growing.
I see them as stepping stones.
Because every challenge unlocked a better version of ourselves, and a stronger version of the community we are building.
We started with doubt. With fear. With confusion.
But now?
We are ready.
We have started.
And this story is only continuing.
