BREAKING: Just five minutes before Trump's announcement to halt the attacks on Iran, massive trades reportedly hit the market.
In one move, $1.5 billion in S&P 500 (ES) futures was bought while $192 million in oil (CL) futures was sold.
These orders were 4–6x larger than anything else at the time.
The trader seemingly made huge gains.
Unusual.

@HockeySeanie Honestly I think fine is a bit generous to describe his season as a whole.
English

"Had a fine season" is why you cannot take these guys seriously with their models. Doing things in the SHL not done since Daniel Sedin despite spending much of the season in the bottom 6, if not as the 13th forward. MVP of the WJC. Couldnt have asked for more from him this year.
Byron Bader@ByronMBader
Anton Frondell is coming, set to make his debut for Chicago in the coming days. Frondell didn't go up another level in his D+1 but had a fine season (switching to the SHL... the 2nd/3rd hardest league in the world). Bedard and Frondell together should be pure electricity!

@yolo_pinyato @phobos_nyx My point is if you watch a Habs game the best line is generally the line he is on. This is true when he plays with Suzuki/Caufield or Demidov/Kapanen. I can find you a spreadsheet that shows this as well - if that helps
English

Slafkovsky is on pace to break 70 points which is a big jump in production for him, but the average forward would be on pace for 80 pts w/ his deployment (and the avg 21 year old would be on pace for 72).
MTL is stacked offensively, but Slaf is more passenger than play driver.

yolo_pinyato_is_dead@yolo_pinyato
every "slafkovsky is good now" post is just a screen shot of his points because people don't know how to calibrate someone being the 6th best offensive player on a top 5 offense in the league lol
English

@JGallant789 @yolo_pinyato I’m not even sure what sport this is if we’re honest how do you win?
English

@AnalyticsSaidSo @yolo_pinyato Just someone who dosnt watch the games, dosnt know what he’s talking about, and just shouldn’t speak.
English

@yolo_pinyato @PinguZaide @Justhabs18 Suppose “do” the same thing, even though achieved by different means.
English

@yolo_pinyato @PinguZaide @Justhabs18 I’m not the one making the claim that one is “better” than the other.
There are obvious limitations to both, but anytime you have two things attempting to essentially do the same thing, people tend to lean towards which is more favorable to their favorite player.
English

@PinguZaide @Justhabs18 evolving-hockey.com/blog/reviving-… what would you do differently? Where are the errors?
Patrick’s model is cool and fine for what it is but is very bad at predicting future success, and does not do a great job of accounting for qot.
English

@AnalyticsSaidSo @Justhabs18 RAPM is a bit outdated TBH. As far as I know, the twins haven't updated anything to their models in years despite more accurate data and tools becoming available.
TopDownHockey + JFresh's WAR model does a much better job than RAPM does, and doesn't ignore special units value.

I remember when Byfield was “ahead” of Slaf.

NHLMuse@NHL_Muse
I refuse to give up on Quinton Byfield.
English

@jjfiset @Justhabs18 RAPM stats.
isolates skater impact on the game adjusted for factors like teammates, opponents, and zone starts etc.
English

@ugmoriss @JinzoNFT @DankestHabsFan @sknod514 @wetalkhockeyy I don’t know how to tell you this but QoT is accounted for. Though, as we know, is very low on the totem pole.
English

@AnalyticsSaidSo @JinzoNFT @DankestHabsFan @sknod514 @wetalkhockeyy Your problem is typical 'geek' logic: treating a number out of context as a universal truth while ignoring the quality of competition he faces every night. You're just manipulating data to fit your narrative
English

@ugmoriss @JinzoNFT @DankestHabsFan @sknod514 @wetalkhockeyy You have a very fundamental misunderstanding of what you’re arguing against, and an exceptionally broad/incorrect definition of arbitrary.
English

@AnalyticsSaidSo @JinzoNFT @DankestHabsFan @sknod514 @wetalkhockeyy Dude, honestly, you're confusing a measurement with a fact. You think advanced stats computed by arbitrary parameters are 'facts,' but the second you change those parameters, your whole number changes. A fact doesn't change.
English

Not a pro Shane wright comment but if this is your slam dunk you understand very, very little about the sport.
Jujuuu@Justhabs18
Can’t believe this used to be a debate…
English

Mostly really good, but pretty overrated.
Kent Murphy@KentMurphy
Dad how good was Yadier Molina? Dad:

Forsberg is a plenty good player, but not nearly as good as his highlight reel would lead people to believe.
BHF@BlackhawksFocus
Forsberg 😳
