@ewarren No more unaccountable and fraud ridden government programs! Do fully refundable tax credits for poor people and let them spend it however they see fit.

A wealth tax on the top .15% of the richest families would generate $6.2 trillion in revenue. That could pay for: Universal childcare Millions of new homes Slashing child poverty Medicare for people aged 55+ Universal paid family leave Tuition-free community college And more.

@TheScottel @SethAbramson Ok. That’s a reasonable take. My issue was with the “country over self” bit, implying there’s a patriotic reason to drop out. Dems are free to coordinate amongst themselves to ensure the party wins, but patriotism has nothing to do with it.

The remaining Democrats in the California gubernatorial race need to get together and do something I’ve hardly seen any Democrat *actually* do in the Trump era, for all their lip service to it: put country above self. At least two should drop out to avoid a Governor Hilton.

Huh? Sanctuary policies aren’t about compassion, they’re about fostering better relations between local law enforcement and immigrant communities; ensuring people don’t feel afraid to call the cops or cooperate to put criminals behind bars.
Homeland Security@DHSgov

“Sanctuary policies are supposed to be about compassion. It appears that ‘sanctuary’ and ‘compassion’ are only for illegal immigrants, not for the actual law-abiding citizens of America.” —Angel Mom Jennifer Bos When sanctuary policies failed her, ICE was there to support Jennifer Bos after her daughter Megan’s body was found abused at the house of an illegal alien. The Trump administration and @ICEgov will ALWAYS stand with our Angel families. They are our why. washingtonexaminer.com/op-eds/4524042…

If all the Republicans who are now crying about VA redistricting had actually fought Trump's Texas mid-decade gerrymander, we wouldn't be here. Instead they criticize Dems who are now responding to the GOP efforts, while sitting silently by as TX GOP did its dirty work.
Josh Kraushaar@JoshKraushaar

The Atlantic: “Democrats in Virginia desperately want permission from voters to gerrymander the state beyond recognition. They also want Virginians to know how profoundly sorry they are to have to ask” theatlantic.com/politics/2026/…

@binarybits Economic growth should be for the benefit of the people, and an orderly society requires people to be gainfully employed. So yes, its correct to say "we need to figure out a plan to prevent AI from putting people out of work".

People who say "we need to figure out a plan to prevent AI from putting people out of work" don't seem to understand that what they're really saying is "we need a plan to ensure AI doesn't drive economic growth." They're two sides of the same coin.

Look at the rate of civilizational advancement from 1st flight to moon landing and consider where we’d be now had we not subsequently reoriented society around the idea that the entire world has a right to live here, vote here & receive legal, political and financial preference.

The reason we haven’t been back to the moon has nothing to do with your retarded conspiracy theories. The reason is that NASA destroyed itself with DEI while our country bankrupted itself with an out of control welfare state and mass immigration from the third world. Now we spend billions of dollars every year buying Doritos for fat people and providing health care to African immigrants. It’s really not that hard to connect the dots here. You don’t need to invent any cinematic conspiracy scenario or start babbling about how “space isn’t real” like a schizophrenic crackhead. It’s the welfare state and immigration. That’s the reason why we stopped doing most of the cool shit we used to do. The reason is the welfare state and immigration.

@varadmehta SCOTUS will probably thread the needle here - allow the administration to crackdown hard on the border, but preserve birthright citizenship. It would fall on Congress and the executive branch to ensure birthright citizenship is not abused. Not a bad outcome.

Last week SCOTUS heard the case about Trump's policy barring asylum seekers at the border. All indications were that the justices are going to sign off on it. Losing the two biggest cases isn't great, but that's hardly a sign Trump's "grip" on the court is slipping.

The real solutions are right in front of us: 1. Immigration reform, including closing the border. 2. For those that are still here, assimilation, especially in schools. 3. Common sense rules for visitor visas, etc, including banning fraud with anchor babies, etc.
David Marcus@BlueBoxDave

Ending birthright citizenship was always a harebrained and doomed idea mostly championed by West Coast conservative think tanks who misread the room about as badly as possible.

@BernieSanders Still doesn’t answer the question. Why not tax wealth at 20% and make $48000 payments to families. Wouldn’t that be fairer? 50% would be fairer still!

Ok, Jamie: Let me clear things up for you. If my 5% wealth tax on billionaires was enacted you’d owe $135 million more in taxes & a family of 4 making $150,000 or less would receive a $12,000 payment. Oh, and you’d still be worth more than $2.5 billion. Seems pretty fair to me.
Acyn@Acyn

Kilmeade: What do you say to people like Bernie Sanders who says billionaires don't pay their fair share? Dimon: I don't know what he means by fair share

@Newsweek If someone born in the US moves abroad and renounces US citizenship, then they’re clearly not under our jurisdiction. Can the government then deny them citizenship if they change their mind and want to come back?

@JerusalemDemsas Arguments against immigration are often framed around legal status, economic concerns, or crime rates, depending on convenience. But the underlying motivation is the rapid pace of social and demographic change, with which many Americans are uncomfortable.
