Kyle Chandler plays a veteran Hal Jordan training Aaron Pierre's John Stewart & the mystery centers on the Manhunters, with Sinestro already locked up after a failed coup against the Guardians. Laura Linney is confirmed as one of the Guardians herself & Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner shows up too. James Gunn keeps proving he understands exactly how to make DC feel fresh instead of exhausted. August 16, 8 episodes, HBO Max.

Blade Runner is finally coming back as a real live-action series, 43 years after the original film. 🏃🏼‍♀️ Blade Runner 2099 picks up 50 years after Blade Runner 2049 in a Los Angeles where replicants have won. They now run the city & humans are the second-class citizens. Hunter Schafer & Michelle Yeoh lead the cast. Tom Burke says the show pulls its aesthetic from the original 1982 film more than the 2017 sequel with that "Baroque, eclectic" texture nobody has fully revisited since. November 25 on Prime Video.

Zach Cregger just dropped the first “Resident Evil” trailer at Comic-Con & it's already being called better than every past adaptation. The man behind “Barbarian” & “Weapons” is rebooting the franchise from scratch, following a medical courier named Bryan (Austin Abrams) who gets dragged into one chaotic, non-stop night of survival horror. 🔪🩸 There's even a Raccoon City namedrop for the fans who grew up on the games. Cregger has 2 horror movies under his belt & both were genuinely great. Handing him a video game adaptation instead of an original script is a real gamble - but on trailer alone, so far it's paying off. Comes out September 18.

Nolan's Odyssey isn't even cold and it already has a Funko Pop. Musk is building an AI version to "counter" it. Homer wrote it in 700 BC with zero production budget. What does it say about Hollywood that the 3,000-year-old original is still the most disruptive version?

DC just dropped the Clayface trailer & it's the 1st R-rated horror film in the entire DCU. Matt Hagen is a struggling actor whose face gets disfigured. In the hospital, someone pumps him full of unknown chemicals & that’s how he becomes a shapeshifting monster. 🧪 The trailer goes all-in on body horror, no holding back. Mike Flanagan co-wrote it. James Watkins directs. Tom Rhys Harries & Naomi Ackie lead it, with James Gunn producing. A Batman villain movie that's actually a horror film first & a comic book movie second. October 23.

Jessica Chastain is starring in a new horror film called “Other Mommy” & it genuinely looks unsettling.  Based on Josh Malerman's novel “Incidents Around the House”, it follows an 8-year old girl in a home already falling apart from marital problems, who starts being haunted by a sinister entity that literally comes out of her closet calling itself "Other Mommy." 😅 Rob Savage directs. James Wan produces through Atomic Monster, alongside Blumhouse.  That's two of horror's most reliable names backing the same project. October 9.  This one sounds like it's going straight for the childhood-fear jugular.🩸

Avengers: Doomsday just dropped its first full trailer. Robert Downey Jr. is no longer playing Iron Man, he is now Doctor Doom.  The trailer's centerpiece is Thor throwing Stormbreaker straight at Doom, who stops it with one hand. 💪 The Avengers, Wakandans, X-Men & Fantastic Four all converge from different universes to fight him. Steve Rogers is back too. This isn’t a sequel. It’s a reckoning. Oh & here's the real kicker: it releases December 18, which is the exact same day as Dune: Part Three.  Two of the biggest franchises on the planet - one release date.  Either way, someone's box office record is about to get demolished.

Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” just opened to $124.5M domestic. 🌊 $264.1M worldwide. Biggest global opening of his entire career. Bigger than Dark Knight Rises. It’s 3 hours. Rated R. Shot completely on IMAX 70mm, which is a first. Every reason this “shouldn’t” work on paper, but worked anyway. Now THIS is how you make a 2,700-year-old book people dodged in school suddenly worth picking up! 📖

We probably have ~3 years left where human labor still earns real money. After that, most of it gets automated to the point where it doesn't pay. This is the end of labor-based capitalism, the model where you trade hours for a wage and stack it over a 40-year career. The window open right now is an information asymmetry. Marvel's Wolverine finally has a real release date! September 15, on PS5. Insomniac Games, which is the studio behind the Spider-Man games - is building this one, so the bar is pretty darn high. It's not open world. It’s a single-player, narrative-driven story centered on Logan hunting down secrets from his own buried past. Liam McIntyre voices him, leaning fully into the rage & the damage underneath it. Insomniac has never made a bad superhero game. This is the one people have been waiting years for.
