i keep thinking about this ~2009 concept art for Paramount’s scrapped Dune adaptation this Dune would have looked more machine-centric, generically futuristic but imo Herbert’s words (“livery,” “keep” etc) beg an almost medieval aesthetic, much closer to Villeneuve’s version
