There is no place for discrimination, racism or any type of hate in our society. There is a lot more we need to do here, and education can play an important part in that. We’ve already started this work. We are working on the curriculum to strengthen understanding of Australian values and we have created a Social Cohesion Education Hub that has resources for teachers. We’re now taking the next step by establishing the Social Cohesion Advisory Council to do ongoing work to strengthen social cohesion across the education system. Part of its work will be providing advice to government on the key recommendations of the Respect at Uni report. It will also do a review of the school curriculum, focusing on strengthening racial and religious tolerance. And it will develop a Social Cohesion Framework for schools to help teachers and school leaders do this.

The Albanese government will give $41.9 million to the Muslim community for security upgrades at mosques and other faith-based places. Parliamentarians, the Australian Public Service, law enforcement, and justice and legal professionals will receive developing training and guidance. An Islamophobia Education Taskforce will be established. There will also be multicultural grants targeting Muslim women and young Muslims, as well as mental health support for those affected by "hate and violence." Australia, is this really what you want your hard-earned taxpayer money spent on?
