@campbellclaret “The gulf between the free-marketeers and what the free market actually thinks of the free-marketeers is hilarious,” Seems to capture it.

@SophyRidgeSky Sorry Sophie This isn’t equivalence. The conservatives lied and knowingly persisted spreading disinformation. It isn’t “disputed”. It’s disinformation. Lies. Please just call it out. Agreed. Don’t mention the sum involved. Just that the conservatives knowingly lied.

Can I be honest with you? I didn’t want to start the programme talking about the Conservative claim that a Labour Government would cost you £2,000 in extra taxes. It’s obviously been disputed. Not just because it’s cumulative rather than annual – but because it’s based on an awful lot of assumptions, with some of the conclusions even being disowned by the authors who did the research. But look – I’m being sucked down the rabbit hole now too. There are two reasons I don’t want to talk about the £2,000 claim. The first is because the Conservatives WANT us to talk about it – because even if we’re discussing the fact the number is being disputed, we’re still talking about Labour putting up tax. But the second reason is even more important. The parties are both arguing about whether each others sums add up. Well… they don’t, do they? Both of them are promising they won’t raise income tax, national insurance, or VAT – three fifths of the total tax revenue. Nobody wants to borrow other than to invest. Health, schools and defence are all ring fenced from spending cuts in some form. I genuinely don’t understand how this all adds up. Not even close. Public spending projections after the next election have been described as a “fantasy” by economists – the tax burden is set to hit a historic high - and we’re spending more on debt interest payments than education. Forget about the quibbling over a few numbers here and there. Because it doesn’t seem to me like ANY party is being honest about just how difficult it will be after the election… and the kind of choices that the next Government will have to make – no matter who it turns out to be. x.com/skypoliticshub…

@mikegalsworthy Lol they picked a guy from Iran. Most Iranians are highly educated and hate their Islamic government. I would be happy to have Iranians come here 🤷🏻‍♂️ Now try Algeria 😂

Listen to this Victoria Derbyshire interview with an asylum seeker… …it absolutely blows the Rwanda narrative out of the water. THIS is what has been entirely missing from the national conversation - the viewpoints and motivations of asylum seekers.

We are heading towards 500 more young, undocumented males crossing the English Channel today. There was even a stabbing on one of the boats. There is no prospect of this stopping under our current weak leadership.

If you’re wondering why Labour don’t have a plan to deal with illegal migration, this might explain it. They don’t want to stop the boats.

Bad news to hear of some small Cornish fishing boats being sold owing to fishing bans. Time for government to ban the huge over 100 metre foreign boats who hoover up too much of our fish a little further out.

@AndyGJBurge I bought my first house at the age of 25. A 4 bed semi. On a fairly normal wage. That was before we joined the EU. All my peers were doing the same. Membership of the EU has been an economic disaster.

As a former Energy Minister I say this is quite right from Claire Coutinho 👇 “The Labour Party’s short-term approach of turning off the taps without a plan to replace them would only deepen our dependency on high-emission imports.” ⁦@Conservativestelegraph.co.uk/politics/2023/…

To house an asylum seeker in a hotel room per person per day costs an average of £157 while the figure for a barge works out at £172.45 – 10% more. Where do you think the home office should be housing asylum seekers? #Poll

@SoNowUknow2 @Is83Gun Diddums. Did you not like the answer to your question that meant you wanted to try and reframe your own question? Muslims did all those. So, now you know. Which is not the same as so now you accept.

@Is83Gun Individuals did the things you list. Nothing to do with being a Muslim. This backward ideology destroys everywhere it enters. That is why it has no place in a civilised society. Certainly no place in the west.

Why is the US growing so fast when the UK and EU are not? Part of the reason is the US has energy self sufficiency with more affordable fuel prices and energy taxes.
