@NationwideRadio Too many laws, regulations, permits restricting trade, they need to be repealed or amended. They are stifling export and trade.

About 5 per cent of Jamaica's gross domestic product, GDP, is lost to corruption. That's the word from Commissioner of the Revenue Protection Division, RPD, of the finance ministry Cranston Morgan. RPD.

When 6 000 students pass mathematics, there will not be enough students matriculation for undergrad study at Universities. A national mathematics institute is needed in Jamaica.

Economic Expansion stalled, Low Foreign Direct Investments, High Foreign Exchange Spread by the Bank of Jamaica, low wage industries with Minimum Wage under US $ 2.00 per hour, High Energy Costs, 6000 Students passing Mathematics.

Published today in the Jamaica Observer. My latest column, "The Generation That Did Everything Right - And Still Feels Left Behind," examines one of the most pressing questions facing Jamaica's future: Why are so many educated, hardworking, and ambitious young Jamaicans struggling to achieve the stability that previous generations viewed as attainable? Despite record-low unemployment and notable macroeconomic progress, many young professionals continue to face rising housing costs, stagnant purchasing power, delayed homeownership, and increasing pressure to seek opportunities abroad. This piece explores the growing disconnect between national economic success and individual economic experience, while considering what policymakers, businesses, educational institutions, and civil society must do to ensure that effort, talent, and discipline remain pathways to advancement. I hope it contributes meaningfully to the national conversation on opportunity, productivity, housing, migration, and the future of Jamaica's human capital. I welcome your thoughts and perspectives. jamaicaobserver.com/2026/06/02/gen… #JamaicaObserver #Jamaica #PublicPolicy #Economics #YouthDevelopment #Housing #Education #LabourMarket #NationalDevelopment #Opinion

@BBCNews It is worth it. But how do you deploy it is contained by market forces, laws regulations and trade restrictions. Look for lucrative transactions and endeavor in trading.

There are several projects available that can expand Jamaica GDP. Waste to Energy 200MW and by products. Micro Hydro Electricity 2 MW, along with fresh raw water storage. Is Jamaica ready to expand GDP?
Canute Thompson@ThompsonCanute

Malabver has made a compelling point. Ja and Singapore, for example are similar in size. Ja spends 6% of GDP on education. Singapore spends 3%. Jamaica's GDP is USD $16B. Singapore is $400B. Percentage comparisons are flawed. iriefm.net/jta-president-…

Labour Standards have fallen in Jamaica. GLC, Employers, Bad Bosses, Telecoms Giants, Ports and Airports, Manufacturing. Livable Wages are the key infraction. Breach of Natural Justice. Breach of Procedures.
Nationwide90FM@NationwideRadio

Jamaica has been requested by the International Labour Organization, ILO, to lead CARICOM coordination and discussions at the 114th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland. READ MORE HERE: revonews.ai/news/ilo-asks-…
