Our work in collaboration with the Armanios lab shows that long telomeres (caused by mutations in POT1) extend the lifespan of cell lineages within the blood. This results in higher counts of somatic mutations and higher risk of CHIP and various cancers. nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…
