@TaylorRMarshall @Broid7 @JackPosobiec baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Pet 3:21b
English

Where in the Bible does it say “Baptism is showing outwardly what has already transpired inwardly”?
My Bible says:
Know you not that all we who are baptized in Christ Jesus are baptized in his death? For we are buried together with him by baptism into death: that, as Christ is risen from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also may walk in newness of life. (Rm 6:3-4)

@TaylorRMarshall Do baptized infants cease to be believers upon committing mortal sin?
English

Denying infant baptism and the connection to abortion:
I've observed that many of the arguments that some Protestants make against infant baptism are analogous to the arguments made by pro-abortionists for abortion/infanticide:
“Infants can't choose, think, speak, talk, believe, etc.”
Baptists who deny infant baptism are arguing against the full human viability of the infant.
Yet the Old and New Testaments speak of infants as believing and praising God.
I have 8 children - all baptized as babies. They became BELIEVERS at baptism. They never “became believers” later on. They believed in Jesus and prayed at ages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5… all the way into their 20s. They were born again as infants. Because babies are fully viable humans.
For thou art he that hast drawn me out of the womb: my hope from the breasts of my mother. (Ps 21:10)

@TaylorRMarshall @rightresponsem 2LBC 1689: Ch. 26, paragraph 9 expresses how most congregational/baptist churches view ordination--Called by Christ, recognizined by the church. Of the Church — The 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith share.google/1i8rDvHrMWmBsD…

Questions for Reformed Calvinists:
How are your pastors, elders and deacons VALIDLY ordained to the ministry?
Who has power to validly ordain?
Where does the power of ordination (power to preach, confer sacraments, and hold jurisdiction) come from?
What makes @rightresponsem or @douglaswils a validly ordained minister of the Church more than say, Joel Osteen or a Young Life leader?

English

@TaylorRMarshall Perhaps the fact that they were "bishops" played a role in this belief.
English

@TaylorRMarshall @piratecapt16 You shifted a thread about creeds to canons, giving readers the impression that these were synonymous. Even so, Baptists would approach the canons in the same way as the creeds, by weighing their accuracy and use in light of Scripture. Rejection outright is oversimplification.
English

I sood Baptists don’t submit to the canons of Nicea.
Do yo do this?
Canon 13
Concerning the departing, the ancient canonical law is still to be maintained, to wit, that, if any man be at the point of death, he must not be deprived of the last and most indispensable Viaticum. But, if any one should be restored to health again who has received the communion when his life was despaired of, let him remain among those who communicate in prayers only. But in general, and in the case of any dying person whatsoever asking to receive the Eucharist, let the Bishop, after examination made, give it him.
English

@piratecapt16 @TaylorRMarshall I understand Baptists very well and appreciate your clarification. My reply was directed toward @TaylorRMarshall for an inaccurate statement that depicted Baptists as outside of orthodox belief.
English

Sir, perhaps you do not understand that baptists churches are independent and self governing. They form associations where they may freely enter or leave but the association may withdraw fellowship from a church for violations of church doctrine. Saddleback baptist church said they were planning to ordain women, so the baptist association withdrew fellowship from them.
There are regional differences as well, NE baptist churches do not have an alcohol prohibition while southern churches do.
We are not monolithic.
English

@TaylorRMarshall @piratecapt16 This statement is inaccurate. Baptists subject all creeds to the Scripture. Even so, historically and presently Baptists have affirmed the Nicene/Chalcedonian Creeds as accurate summaries of the Bible's teaching.
English

@piratecapt16 Baptists reject the canons of the Council of Nicea.

@timotheeology Romans 1:19-20
what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, ...they are without excuse

@JackPosobiec Is this an honest question? Sola Scriptura is a doctrine drawn from the whole of Scripture. It asserts that Scripture is the final/highest source of authority for believers, judging even our traditions. It is both Biblical and logical. It does not deny other layers of authority.
