Typical viral URIs?
Clinically recognized rates are low — likely a few per 100k — but most cases are mild and never worked up. (AHA/ESC myocarditis statements)
COVID changed one thing:
we actually started looking.
More troponins.
More MRIs.

So yes — infection-associated myocarditis is higher than post-vaccine risk in most datasets. (CDC, multiple cohort studies)
But the bigger truth?
This isn’t new biology.
