New T20 Captain @DerbyshireCCC @AneurinDonald12 has been appointed captain of Derbyshire's T20 side for the 2026 season. He will become the 20th player to captain Derbyshire in T20 cricket...full list below. Congratulations Nye!!!

Explosive opening batter Aneurin Donald has been named Derbyshire Falcons captain for this summer’s T20 Blast campaign, taking over from Samit Patel. The 29-year-old scored 449 runs at a strike rate of 216.9 in 2025, and equalled the record for the fastest Blast half-century, reaching 50 from just 13 balls against Yorkshire at Chesterfield.

I first met John Williams in 1984 when, as a young 22 year old I was trying to encourage the @DerbyshireCCC Supporters' Club to emulate what he was doing to energise watching county cricket - in his case, at Glamorgan. The driving force behind 'The Balconiers', he organised trips to matches all over the UK for many decades and gained many friends around the circuit, including here in Derbyshire. I took these photographs 30 years apart - the first, from out in the middle, shows the balcony on the extreme right which gave 'The Balconiers' their name. The second, was taken from that balcony in 2018. News of his death will sadden many within the game; a game which John served so well. My condolences go to all @GlamCricket and especially his friends and colleagues in and around Swansea, and of course, his family...
