@SkinSpecialist @Nigel_Farage I think the crisis management is for the Government to lead, with law enforcement. Important cross party work on the next steps should follow, but I don't think recalling Parliament should happen immediately. This crisis is for the Executives to manage. Debate later.

Whether you love him or loathe him @Nigel_Farage is absolutely right here. We need an urgent recall of Parliament to discuss the tensions that exist within our Society. And politicians need to start working together to achieve this.

A bold commitment to levelling up and fair distribution of wealth is an important factor in getting out of this.

Perceived cruel policies about the 2 child benefits cap and winter fuel are easily twisted into narrative. Time for a meaningful conversation again about Universal Basic Income? Lift most quickly out of poverty, improve markers of health, reduce burden on public services.

It's been inflamed by recent govts and media who have preferred to go along with the "Stop the Boats" message to avoid the actual issues of poverty driving division. Aside from the organised Far Right manipulating them with misinformation, many of the protestors are fearful.

Rotherham 😔 IMO one underlying cause of all this is austerity worsened by Brexit and a pandemic. People can't afford to live. So they target the 'Other' in this case immigrants who they perceive as being given what is withheld from them
