@PatrickHayslip I'm more sold on the idea that Buffalo is peaking at the right time more than anything else. Tampa is Tampa but I think age & injuries have caught up & Montreal is an interesting matchup but I think Buffalo wins that series

Buffalo looks as impressive as it did in the regular season. Just a machine. Smothering a desperate Bruins team which also had a great regular season run. Swayman was good in the first part of the series but Buffalo seemed destined after that Game 4 beatdown of Boston

@PatrickHayslip Yeah it's just not happening. Both from a PR & cap/roster management perspective it makes no sense. I don't think this should happen but a Johnston trade would be the move that could do what this guy thinks trading Seguin will do but that would also be a bad idea

@AndrewLefebvre I feel like the Stars trading him after injuries that weren't his fault are a bad look for the organization. Also, they do kind of need to give the Stars fans a chance to say goodbye. Hence why I believe it's a conversation really not worth entertaining when you consider the PR

@PatrickHayslip If there's a move that can be made where they can get a serviceable player with favorable contract terms for Seguin then yeah do it but does that trade even exist?

@PatrickHayslip Yeah & who is taking on Seguin's contract with his injury history? No one is taking the full cap hit so at that point you're basically trading Seguin to get someone who makes less but you still have a 4.9 mil cap hit for Seguin which feels like a wash. Not to mention the NMC

There’s no urgency until it’s too late, there weren’t meaningful adjustments made at all in the playoffs. The sheer lack of shooting was once again on display. They are so good but not good enough when they need to be

The Stars aren’t a bad team but the same things that plagued them & eventually took them out in the 3rd round last year are the things that took them out in the 1st round this year. I don’t know what needs to change & whatever it is is small but this can’t keep happening

@PatrickHayslip Ehh I think his point is more about who is making these player safety decisions and why/how they are in general. I'm a Stars homer I'd rather not see Benn get suspended but at what point does repeat offense actually mean anything to the league when doling out fines/suspensions?

If Steve actually watched the Stars games, he'd know that the 2023 suspension was the only incident worthy of a suspension. But he's a casual.

Did the surgery & my knee definitely felt better but he was 100% right about needing to strengthen everything around my knee. Once I started weight training and squatting consistently the lingering knee pain I'd occasionally experience vanished

When I had surgery to repair the torn cartilage in my knee from an old skate injury the Ortho was hesitant to do it since I was 30. He was adamant about me needing to focus on strengthening the muscles around my knee if I wanted long term relief regardless of surgery though

Many years ago I hurt my knee playing sports. I was referred to the orthopedist for one of the local pro teams. After keeping me waiting for 2.5 hours, he diagnosed a cartilage tear and recommended surgery. I was so mad at his manner and tardiness I left without scheduling. The next week I got a second opinion from a much younger doc who was likely more current on the recent medical literature. He looked at the same MRI. He said he could do surgery now but his advice was to wait 30 days and see if it healed on its own. It did. Medical reversal is when a practice that became widely used is later shown to be ineffective or even harmful. Examples like meniscus surgery show the need to keep gathering evidence. A not immaterial part of the practice of modern medicine doesn't improve health, and may be net harmful.

@PatrickHayslip Oh totally in agreement with you but at some point Gaglardi is going to wonder where his Cup is at. It would be a mistake to do it now or before his contract ends in 2028 but the thought has to be kicking around in Gaglardi's head eventually

@AndrewLefebvre You know, this is such an interesting topic. How do you reprimand/correct the 3x GM of the year? I think considering how cap strapped they were, he did his best at the trade deadline. They didn't have a ton of assets.

@PatrickHayslip I know Nill will be back next year (and he 1,000% should) but if they get bounced in round 1 how many more cracks does he get at it with this core before ownership gets impatient & demands change

@PatrickHayslip The injuries are what they are but every team is dealing with them in one way or another. It's the slow starts, the overpassing, the defensive pairs that aren't Miro/Esa getting pinned in because they don't really try to carry the puck out of the zone. TBH it feels mental

@PatrickHayslip Some of the takes I'm seeing are hot. The Wild were the better team last night. There are definitely things to critique about the Stars right now but the Wild played a good, tight game that the Stars couldn't figure out how to crack. Sometimes you just get beat by the better team

Some of this is definitely injury related, & the Wild have done a good job of not letting the Stars play inside the circles at 5v5, but this has been another playoff series of getting to watch the Stars put on a passing clinic that generates very few shots of consequence

Last 10 playoff games (WCF vs EDM, R1 vs MIN) The Stars have scored 8 goals at 5v5 from 23.46 expected. That is ***15.46*** goals below expected. In 10 games! They’re shooting ***3.6 percent*** at 5v5 during that stretch. Insane we’re having this same discussion.
