17 years on, we remember those who lost their lives or disappeared in Sri Lanka’s armed conflict, including families still searching for the whereabouts of their loved ones. Meaningful progress on truth, justice and accountability remains essential for lasting reconciliation.

British amateur artist Dennis Candy, a long-term resident in Sri Lanka, raised LKR 1 million through his paintings for Cyclone Ditwah relief. Last month, he presented the funds to the Governor of the Central Province—an inspiring example of community support.

Good to meet Hon. Anura Karunathileka and Hon. Janaka Ruwan Kodithuwakku. We discussed how Sri Lanka can maximize its ports and airports, including through existing and new UK partnerships, alongside UK support for green energy, particularly offshore wind.

Today, my thoughts are with all those affected by the 21 April Easter Sunday attacks, including British nationals. I stand with the families as they remember their loved ones and continue to seek answers.
