London is considering charging SUV drivers extra to use the roads. Why? Because the evidence shows that SUVs endanger other road users. 🚴‍♂️🚶 But if SUVs are dangerous enough to charge extra to own… why not stop advertising them in the first place? 🧵 theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/m…

@Boborsr Nope. Solar and batteries provide baseload power at the same or greater reliability as nuclear at much lower cost, much faster, and without weapons proliferation risk, meltdown risk, radioactive waste storage for 200,000 years, or costly uranium mining/processing.

Hard to find words, but here is an attempt. It is(*) obvious that European, Israeli and American citizens are not able to control our own brutal monsters, either economic or geopolitical, despite our "democracies" and "rule of law." Their escalating destruction endangers all. 1/

Real UK extremism is the mainstream everyday kind: finance's toxic influence, the government's fawning over an extreme market economics that divides & destroys the climate conditions for life, criminalisation of protest, ignoring genocide & pandering to anti-immigrant prejudice

Hours of analysis of Greens win in Gorton and Denton by-election on @bbcr4today, but no mention of widespread (& fully-justified) terror at global warming, or indeed of any other green issue save privatising the water companies.

New nuclear is crazy-and useless $47.2 bil for 3.26 GW Hinkley Point C=$14.5/W vs $1/W for solar and wind And HPC will take 22 years from planning to operation (2008-2030), vs 1-3 for PV/wind Similar statistics for Vogtle Vaporware SMRs are worse theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/f…

If you watch just one more of @mrendell's insightful takes on untold Olympic stories, watch this, requiem for a forest. The mainstream media coverage has been almost entirely devoid of ecological context. This sad, beautiful story corrects that...

Leadership from below, as towns and cities around the world, realising that promoting our own self-destruction is perhaps a bad idea, are moving to follow the logic of tobacco ad bans, and treating fossil fuels and heavily polluting products the same way. bbc.co.uk/future/article…

The Winter Olympics has a big precedent to make the world a better place - as the banning of tobacco sponsorship at the 1988 Winter Games showed us. 🚭 So why are the Winter Games still platforming companies melting the snow they depend on? ❄️ 🧵 youtu.be/NBq0Y_5hOvM
