Gov. Hochul touts $88.7B spent on clean energy as a success. The ratepayers who funded every dollar of it see it differently. The proposed CLCPA changes may slow future cost hikes, but do nothing about the bills you’re paying right now. That’s not reform — it’s not affordability — it’s inadequate.

A data center the size of Central Park just got approved in Illinois, which will be the largest in the state. At full capacity, this single site will consume more than half the electricity of the entire city of Chicago. You cannot support that kind of demand without a reliable power source. This is why Illinois is rapidly positioning itself as a pro-nuclear leader. Governor JB Pritzker recently signed the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act, officially lifting the state’s decades-long ban on new nuclear plants. To turn that law into reality, he also issued an executive order to enable construction on at least 2 GW of new nuclear capacity by 2033. This $20B project is set to begin in early 2027 and is projected to create ~8,500 construction jobs and 700 permanent jobs while generating billions in tax revenue for the area. New nuclear capacity will be critical to meeting rising electricity demand and keeping the grid stable as data centers and AI infrastructure continue to grow across the country. At @hadron_energy, we are building Micro Modular Reactors (MMRs) designed to power this type of infrastructure. By using proven light-water technology, our MMRs are designed to deliver 24/7 carbon-free power directly to these mega-sites, ensuring the American grid remains reliable, carbon free, and energy independent.

💬 Energy Ranker @AndrewgrayS recalls an elderly resident in his district who had a 4 month hospital stay. No one lived at her home. Her thermostat was set to 63 degrees — her electric bill for one month was $500. This is completely unsustainable for seniors on fixed incomes and every day NYers.
