Oregon, LSU, and Texas Tech all have graduation next weekend and all are hosting.
Not a good look for Virginia Tech to be deemed unable to host when other Power 4 schools in smaller towns in cases like Oregon and Texas Tech are able to do so with graduation happening too.

Natalie Honnen, selection committee's chair, said the NCAA denied the #Hokies’ bid to host. Graduation is next weekend and hotels in the 30-mile radius are limited. “They did not [meet the requirements to host]. That did not come into our decision of the top 16 seeds.”

And had anybody on the committee done any research they could have found that hotels were, in fact, available. It was just their “excuse” to have 1 more SEC team host.

And it’s really specific to softball because of the timing of when the regional is. VT put out a statement saying it can host a super regional next week — because hotels are available.
