@PhoneyMajor I am so glad you have written this. Just finished the first series and the character felt totally OTT.

1/5 Rogue Heroes is frivolous entertainment & shouldn’t be taken seriously. But the distortion of Blair ‘Paddy’ Mayne is immoral & not surprisingly has upset his family. The distortion is reminiscent of the 1997 film ‘Titanic’ & its wholly inaccurate portrayal of William Murdoch

@FluteMagician British squaddies were being pulled up for kneeling next to pushbikes in NI preparatory training in the 1980s. IRA also used a bicycle bomb in Coventry in 1939.

6) This was a report from 1965 about a Viet Cong bicycle bomb. In Saigon, the South Vietnam capital. Now here’s a boobytrapped scooter in Moscow. Old things become new again as a matter of necessity and expediency. What works, works. And also⬇️

1) Ah, now here is a boobytrap vintage classic. A new take on the Viet Cong bicycle bomb. Ukraine used a remotely-detonated fragmentation bomb packed into the scooter to off a Russian general. This does not bode well for Russia. But let’s continue⬇️

@lewis_goodall Putin has more influence than Farage. Like Farage, Putin won't be putting British interests first, which us what Starmer will be doing.

It’s a great line from Starmer but Farage is the one still laughing. He’s in the remarkable position of legitimately being able to say he has a better relationship with the US president than the British PM and will be able to say so for sometime, potentially indefinitely. It significantly amplifies his voice in British politics. x.com/Josh_Self_/sta…

I'd be much more concerned by a politician who hasn't criticised Trump in the past than one who has. The use of this as a gotcha speaks volumes.

@NicholasTyrone It's going to be the same 3 years down the line. MAGA will have been betrayed and someone - various traitors and brown people - will have to be blamed.

The strangest thing about today is that Trump winning doesn’t seem to have made his supporters happy - they seem angrier than ever. Reminds me of 2016 with Brexit. Same weird rage off the back of a desired result.

Not sure I understand the upset of people losing hundreds of bot followers. Appreciate I have a small number of followers but I cull all the ropey ones as soon as they appear.

A far greater proportion of private than state school pupils get extra time in exams… which is even odder when you consider the wider context this is happening within: we know special educational needs are more prevalent in poorer areas ft.com/content/5f96ea…

Macron to European leaders just now "Our interest is that Russia does not win this war..If it wins, that means that on our borders is an imperial power which we are telling: you can be expansionist.. I don't see who around this table can have peace of mind if we let that happen"

I'm in Budapest where Keir Starmer and European leaders are talking security, Nato and Ukraine - in the light of Trump's win. Given he's vowed to "end the war in 24 hours", there's a lot to discuss. And Trump ally Viktor Orban is hosting 👇 #liveblog-body" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">news.sky.com/story/trump-wi…

Something that needs pushback is this idea that nobody saw a Trump victory coming. Pundit consensus was that it was a tossup. Public consensus similar - though there was a period where a clear majority of Brits thought Trump would beat Biden. See public view from @ipsosuk here

Harris afforded that legitimacy and graciousness to Trump in a way of course he never did to the Biden/Harris ticket in 2020.

@AndyCroy @lewis_goodall An historical fallacy, we were never alone in WW2, allies joined in from the start, from the BEF at Dunkirk and the Battle of Britain other nations were involved.

Meanwhile, in Berlin, the German government has just collapsed. The Chancellor Olaf Scholz has confirmed he will seek a confidence motion in the new year to trigger a snap general election. Starmer’s Labour may quickly find itself pretty lonely on the social democratic front…

@GuidoFawkes It is a condition of standing for election as a Labour MP or councillor that one is in a Trade Union. It's in the rulebook. #GoogleIsYourFriend The bigger story is the 10% who you think (probably wrongly) aren't in a TU. Name and shame!.
