Been a while since I posted anything on this platform but this is worth sharing... MLR has ditched their automatic conversion for tries scored under the posts. Attacking scrums (inside the 22) are also an option again on penalties. Limited number of law variations for #MLR2026:

@AmericasOval The former ARC tournament with "A" sides did so much to develop Rugby Canada players and coaches under Kieran Crowley. Also, the Pacific Rugby Challenge. Hopefully, Canada can find a way back to these fixtures.

@AndyEvans_SS Here is something from an old article I wrote, that probably had rugby specifically in mind. This is from 2017, arguably the scant research I reference is a little stronger now.

@raysrugby As USA Rugby looks after themselves, how do you think @RugbyCanada and the rugby community across the country do likewise? What actions should we be taking? Any idea is worth exploring.

First post from MLR in a month doesn't say much, but sets a "minimum of 16" out of a match day 23 need to be US-eligible. That's different from the previous rumor of 5 import slots. Still a lot of unknowns heading towards 2026.

@WPrugbyjeff @RugbyCanada Just an idea since thinking about how I’d like to see the Fraser Valley to be reinvigorated. Also the Prairie Fire. Amazing people who can solve these challenges.

@WPrugbyjeff @RugbyCanada 2/2 Super league teams relaunched with Junior teams. Play within bus ride. Paid locally. CRC teams - play close teams then finals at a set location. Paid by regions and sponsors. Canada East vs West - supported by Rugby Canada but regions share costs. National Program - RC

@WPrugbyjeff @RugbyCanada Certainly opportunity there. Also elements from the past Super League has potential to feed into a CRC and capture more of the thriving youth programs coast to coast. We all know the great talent in our communities.

Peyton Manning, former NFL player attacks inattentional blindness… Inattentional blindness - there are millions of pieces of data we miss throughout our day. Small behaviours from others we fail to pick up on. Tiny actions from ourselves that help or hinder and that could be useful to be aware of for our own development. We miss what we don’t see. And what we don’t see, we miss. Of course, inattentional blindness exists to help us hone-in on what we perceive to be important. And thus it shapes our personality - the characteristics that become typical to us. But this phenomenon can limit our flex - our ability to adapt. It can prevent us broadening the ability to move up and down the behavioural continuum. And so, look around when you can. Attune to sensorial data that hits your brain and body from your external world. Try to see more and when you do notice something you haven’t seen before, consider its value. And then engage in meta-cognition - think about your thinking, your feelings, and your behaviours. Consider what helps and what might hinder. Take the helicopter viewpoint of your life and assess what the outside world might experience from you. Critique all you can without utterly destroying your confidence. Growth will only come from the uncomfortable feeling built from recognising what you lack. Attending to your inattentional blindness may be the fastest route to building personal effectiveness and professional competence…
