@bencsmoke Most people politically are casuals. Outside of a handful of constituencies, a committed local candidate will make very little difference.
A big name who people know who could become PM will absolutely move the needle more with the majority who aren’t politically engaged.

Resources would be much better spent on a Mayoral Election for the Green’s, but obviously they shouldn’t roll over for a different party without some policy assurances from Burnham.

Seven hurdles for Andy (some bigger than others):
1️⃣Is the Chancellor going to appoint Josh Simons to the Chiltern Hundreds - allowing for him to resign.
2️⃣Is the Government Chief Whip then going to move the writ of a by election in short order?
3️⃣Is the Labour Party NEC then going to select Burnham’s name for the candidate shortlist?
4️⃣If the local party going to select Burnham from the shortlist?
5️⃣Then if Burnham is selected can he win over an electorate that overwhelmingly voted Reform on Thursday?
6️⃣Then can he win over enough Labour MPs to be nominated?
7️⃣And then can he win over the labour membership?

This is the best case scenario for Burnham in terms of what seat could've become available.

I do think that letter is a sign that Streeting *knows* he won't win a leadership contest. Inviting a long contest which allows people like Burnham an opportunity to get a seat to then be able to stand in it isn't the move of someone who's particularly making major moves.

IndyFP2 observations:
- interesting nugget that Helio as a one off with Honda has to limit his on track mileage to save his engine as he only has that one. MSR otherwise looks strong
- Penske as a team is running a smooth and progressing program. All three cars in the top 10 on the time charts.
- the cool temps are unlikely to last for qualifying or race day.
- Coyne continues to impress with RoGro 5th overall and turned 77 laps. Hauger has been consistent. Michael Cannon effect?
- Harvey has the pole winning engineer from Prema so gotta believe he comes with some setup sheets

@CNLiberalism FPTP is a terrible political system, but like Labour polling was beginning to collapse before the election, and Labour underperformed *every* poll come election day.
There were signs that their manifesto was nowhere near enough and misunderstood *why* they won.

Kier Starmer is far from perfect but him being elected in a historic landslide and then almost immediately becoming net unpopular reveals some deeply broken about Anglosphere politics beyond just his personal characteristics
