I repeat: The U.S. sent thousands of its 19 years old soldiers to die in Normandy, to free Europe and to end the biggest crime against humanity ever commited - by Europeans. It was just 81 years ago. The whole reason, France, Benelux etc. 🇫🇷 exist today is because of this heroism. My grandparents could grow up in a liberal democracy. Without the U.S. they would be raised at the H*tler Youth. We Europeans would still be in wars again and again, like 1914, 1866, 1870, 1795 etc. They brought peace, democracy, liberty and human rights. They invested billions of U.S. Dollars into Europe with the Marshall Fund. They gave us more than we ever had in our history before. They protected us for 7 decades with hundreds of thousands of soldiers against the cruelties of the Soviet Union. The terror we can see nowadays in Donetsk, would have happened in Bavaria, Bourgogne or the Netherlands in 1950 if there wasn’t the U.S. 🇺🇸 Who do we Europeans think we are to let that nation down, act like bad allies, calling their President names every day on television - and have full confidence we stand better alone. All of instagram is just about, why we’re better than the U.S. We owe them so much. We Europeans are most arrogant species on earth. And to cure this we have to face the truth.

The Hormuz blockade strategy is from 40 years ago. It only made sense back when it actually hurt the USA. Now that we have cheap shale oil, the strategy is obsolete because Iran blockading the rest of the world's oil doesn't actually hurt the USA.

It seems clear the only way this war ends is if Trump takes control of the Strait of Hormuz. As long as Iran holds the world's oil supply by the balls, they are going to be unreasonable to negotiate with.

When Europe panicked over the invasion of Ukraine, the US contributed $188 Billion, plus $66.9 Billion in hardware and military aid. That doesn't include intelligence and other support. When the US asked Europe if they wished to assist in the war in Iran, Europe said, "Not our illegal war." Ukraine wasn't ours either, but we at least showed up. I believe that the nations of the Middle East will remember who was there to protect them. Certainly, the US will remember who our friends truly are.

My assessment is that the Marines should focus on clearing Iranian territory facing the strait and engaging regular military forces there, denying them the ability to attack shipping transiting the strait. Special Forces should be used for Kharg Island to make sure the oil infrastructure has the best chance of staying intact. However special attention needs to also focused on the Houthis in Yemen as well. Arab forces can't be trusted to do this.

5,000 Marines are more than enough to take Kharg Island. Right now, however, the objective is to secure The Strait of Hormuz. Part of securing the strait requires clearing Iranian Offensive capabilities along the coast of the strait. 5,000 Marines can do that.
