@TanzeyJon2991 That guy could should have at least been covering kickoffs and punts.
English

@AndyStaples And UA did not attempt to find one more year of eligibility for the PD officer who chased down Baker Mayfield and his 4.5/40 (somehow, even if Mayfield was drunk).
English

The last college QB arrested by Fayetteville PD won the Heisman and got drafted first overall.
🤔
Adam Rittenberg@ESPNRittenberg
Story on Minnesota starting QB Drake Lindsey's arrest early Friday for having a fake ID and underage alcohol consumption, while back home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Minnesota is aware and will address internally. espn.com/college-footba…
English

@AndyStaples Weird, I don't remember Cole Kelley winning the Heisman or getting drafted at all.

English

@SLeonard27 Forgot about KJ’s joyride.
Should have said “for an alcohol-related” offense.
English

@AndyStaples Actually the most recent was benched for a 17 year old after transferring to UCF
English

@anxiety55560 @LisaRawlsFit @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 I said something you disagreed with, and you assume it’s because I hate the thing you like.
That’s the kind of assumption a 4-year-old would make.
But it’s cool. You can believe whatever you like.
English

@AndyStaples @LisaRawlsFit @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 If "hurt my feelings " is how you took that it's fine. I understand engagement is everything. You've made a wonderful life for yourself writing about sports. My opinion shouldn't matter to you and I get that. I'm just saying you had a way with words. It's a shame hate took over
English

@AriWasserman @AndyAriOn3 @AndyStaples blame Nick Saban for lack of parity in college football prior to NIL/Portal. In other words, Saban was too good - he created such advantages that he can’t have an opinion on CFB at this point. The irony of your discussion is crazy.
English

@anxiety55560 @LisaRawlsFit @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 Love Bama and Saban. Don’t have to always agree with them.
I’m paid to give opinions. I’m sorry if they hurt your feelings.
English

@AndyStaples @LisaRawlsFit @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 Always enjoyed your content. I wish some of you could get past your deep seeded hate for Bama and Saban. Truly miss having non biased media. I guess lots of things are gone and will never be the same. Such is time
English

@AndyStaples @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 FYI as it was to Ari's post, but here's my bigger beef. It is a well written piece and I would copy/paste the few lines in particularly I had issues with, but since it's behind the paywall I don't do that. It annoys me when people do. x.com/LisaRawlsFit/s…
LisaRawls@LisaRawlsFit
You have it backwards. Because Nick Saban was the GOAT, he was able to stack rosters, build infrastructure, put players in the NFL & win NATTY's. Recruiting didn't make him, The Process yielded superior rosters who saw Bama as the way to the NFL. Generational wealth was created.
English

@LisaRawlsFit @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 He also retired when he did because he knew exactly what was going to happen.
He understands this completely.
Which is why we laugh.
English

@AndyStaples @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 His interests in the whole of CFB from a Game Day perspective are clear, from coaching at LSU, Michigan State and other stops along the way (heck even a year at Navy), playing at Kent State (smaller school) - all lead to him having a much broader love of CFB than singularly Bama.
English

I don’t think you’re dumb. I do think a bunch of guys who wanted to keep all the money said the same thing for so long that people started to believe it even though history tells us they were full of it.
I do think Saban understands this stuff completely and would like to go back to a system that is more helpful to Alabama.
English

@AndyStaples @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 On that we can agree. Time may tell, unless pay for play is fixed. Thanks for engaging even if it's because U perceive me to be kinda dumb & Saban to be disingenuous. It's a fun way to pass away a few hours. I do like your product, yeah even more than Pate State.
Roll Tide
English

@LisaRawlsFit @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 And if you agree with me on depth, then you agree with me on everything.
That’s what’s so funny.
English

@AndyStaples @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 Agree with that on depth. Disagree that open no-restrictions pay for play (supposed NIL but nothing like true NIL) will lead to parity over time. You think I am wrong/crazy. Fine, I am not alone in the concern that it's going to actually consolidate CFB power and hurt the sport.
English

@LisaRawlsFit @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 I don’t care if you’re not alone. Lots of people think the Earth is flat. Doesn’t make it not round.
English

@LisaRawlsFit @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 Sorry. This isn’t even an argument.
Reality keeps proving me right.
If it stops doing that, we can readdress.
English

@AndyStaples @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 My position (and Saban's) is not comical or crazy as you want to paint it out to be. There is a legitimate discussion on what is best for CFB to be had if you were remotely interested. Example from a quick AI query: share.google/aimode/il0b4nJ…
English

@AriWasserman @LisaRawlsFit @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 I don’t read your articles either, so I’m on Lisa’s side there
English

@AndyStaples @LisaRawlsFit @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 She still hasn’t read the article and we’re arguing with her. It’s insane.
English

@LisaRawlsFit @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 My mom — she of the two Alabama degrees — made sure I paid attention in school.
That’s why I understand how markets work.
English

@LisaRawlsFit @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 Sure. Can’t stand the school where my parents met in a class.
English

@LisaRawlsFit @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 Cool.
Indiana won it last year. Miami and Ole Miss were in the semis.
You are welcome to believe what you want, but it doesn’t square with the facts and thousands of years of human economic behavior.
So I’m going to bet I’m correct here.
English

@AndyStaples @AriWasserman @MauriceMbooth @AndyAriOn3 And either OSU or UGA may just win it this season (2026) in January of 2027. Again, that's not the relevant issues (those particular teams). I happen to think Saban is correct. Unrestricted bag $ NIL & the portal are bad for CFB, will consolidate talent & are not sustainable.
