WILD. Hotels across multiple 2026 FIFA World Cup host cities are reportedly seeing major room cancellations from FIFA itself. According to the AHLA, up to 70% of FIFA-reserved hotel rooms in Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Seattle have been released back into the market. The hotel industry says FIFA’s early block bookings created “artificial demand” that inflated prices and distorted expectations ahead of the tournament. Now, with just weeks until kickoff, some hotels fear the expected World Cup tourism boom may fall short.

2026 World Cup ticket prices are dropping 📉📉 The average price for group-stage tickets have plummeted over 23% in the past month and are currently at the lowest prices they’ve seen since January 17. The average get-in price for a group-play match peaked at $737 and is now down to $550. That $168 price drop is a stunning shift with less than a month before the June 11 kickoff game in Mexico City. The opening match between the USMNT and Paraguay at SoFi Stadium on June 12 has dipped below four figures for the first time in five months. The average price to “get-in” the stadium has dropped to $938. Only reportedly 40,934 tickets have been sold for a venue that can hold nearly 70,000 fans.

FIFA ruined my World Cup dream. After watching the 2022 tournament in Qatar, I was convinced the 2026 World Cup in the United States would be the summer of my life. I imagined traveling around the country and attending match after match. Now, after seeing the ticket prices, I may be able to attend one game… maybe two at the absolute maximum. During the last World Cup, I saw a fan on television who attended part of every match. It was one of the coolest things I had ever seen.
