Corporations should focus on hiring women who are 40 plus who have had children and raised them. It is hard to do 2 jobs at once (work and raising kids) so why not have children and THEN a career. It requires corps to re think how they hire people. People are living longer and if hire a 40 year old woman who has raised children, you are getting a very able and responsible employee who will work for 30 years. Thoughts?

@megbasham We didn’t emphasize dating very much. We focused on friendships and finding significance in God rather than another person. Our three adult kids waited until college to pursue serious relationships.

Christian parents of adult children--what was your approach to dating in the teen years? Did you allow it? What were your parameters?

My friend and business partner, Tricia Goyer, and I create online courses for homeschool students (public and private school students are welcomed, too) at epiclearning.online I love your idea. I’ve thought of creating a ‘Cottage Skills’ course that teaches skills such as bread baking, sewing, jam making, menu planning, etc. What specific topics do you think would be great to add to the course or would be great as an entire course?

If we could just have instruction for women that focused on how to be a good wife and mother, how to manage a household, domestic virtues…that would be great. Women used to be taught these things from childhood and prepared for them. There were books written about this …

@joelwellsmd You should try roasting peanuts. Super yummy and amazing peanut butter when ground. 99 Ranch Market and Mitsuwa in Plano sell raw peanuts in 2 1/2 and 5 pound bags.

When you are going through a challenging time, let yourself get trained through it. You are almost always being trained for some task in your future that you don’t know anything about yet. When you get to that future task, you will be very glad to be doing it with the new set of muscles you gained through the past challenge. And you will know how impossible it would have felt without those muscles.

The use of AI to complete college course assignments, especially doctoral level courses, is dissolving critical thinking skills. It also lacks forward progress in innovation because people are regurgitating what’s already known. It’s good to get basic ideas, but bad if those basic ideas aren’t expanded upon with proper research.

Ah, Andrew. Haven’t we been online friends since the early Tumblr days? Sorry to see this public rebuke. If it helps, I’ve never tried to stop generative #AI, I’ve merely told people what is going to happen to them as AI infiltrates our systems and institutions. I’m just the mailman.

… who did not want to follow the crowd and has their own ideas about what they needed to do. This dampened our culture and innovation, bringing people to even think that generative #AI, a regurgitation of the past, was actually our cultural future. /6

I’m an online professor at two universities. I spend more time policing ethical research and writing behavior at the doctorate level than I do teaching. I also spend more time teaching how to research and write than I do teaching the concepts doc students need to learn. Very frustrating and demotivating.

My calendar is my to-do list. I schedule each task as an appointment. I do the same when writing a book-each chapter is an appointment. Does anyone else do this?
