Proper name pronunciation shows respect not only for the student, but for their ethnicity and culture. It shows inclusion and creates a space where everyone feels like they belong. Join me in taking the time to get to know the names of the new little friends in your life.

It's no secret I'm a proud Nanny.  Our little Amari started school and as he makes friends and gets to know his teachers, I take time to reflect on the importance of learning how to correctly pronounce someone’s name.

With every workshop or session I put on with A Team, I always take away new learning opportunities. I appreciate getting to meet hardworking leaders in our province, and hope to continue to work together to support the diverse regions they serve.

Michelle, it was a great surprise seeing you and I look forward to catching up and seeing you next week to engage in EDI with CBCD. CBCD is a non-profit run by volunteers and offers financial services for entrepreneurs opening small businesses or expanding businesses.

This week I attended the NIA Summit hosted by the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission and Delmore Buddy Daye Learning Institute. I had great conversations with Acadia representatives and the Nova Scotia Justice Institute.

Last week I joined colleagues and friends in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the @halifaxchamber. And to top it off - the event was in support of the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia. Congratulations to the Chamber and keynote Wes Hall on a great event.

When you work hard, set goals, and don't quit - pressure is a privilege. What a privilege it was to be the keynote speaker for the graduation ceremony at the East Preston United Baptist Church. What an amazing afternoon to witness such greatness and achievements.
