"While it is certainly true that Washington never saw himself as a pastor or a Christian evangelist, it is also not possible to consider him a deist in the model of Thomas Jefferson. Contrary to the deist idea of a God who creates but then abandons the field of history, Washington repeatedly referred to God as a Providential King who governs in the affairs of man. Washington was able to reject the King of England because he believed in the King of the Universe." anglicancompass.com/george-washing…

"Why are we so resistant to the Rite of Reconciliation? Why is it so uncommon to participate in something that offers restoration, belonging, and an experience of God’s love that I struggle to adequately describe in words? I suspect many of us have made Reconciliation seem more daunting than it truly is." anglicancompass.com/bless-me-for-i…

"Along with Prayer Book worship, church governance by a threefold order of ministry “in historic succession” marks Anglicanism off in important ways from other historic churches. Likewise, an ordered communion of churches has posed a distinctive challenge to Anglicans in the past and to their global future." anglicancompass.com/equipped-by-th…

J.I. Packer was a prominent 20th-century evangelical Anglican minister, theologian, and institution builder. Born in England and educated at Oxford in the 1940s and 1950s, Packer became an international figure through scores of pamphlets and books, especially his 1973 bestseller, Knowing God. Packer’s institutional engagement is less famous than his books but arguably even more influential. Multiple projects in which he took a leading role, including the English Standard Version of the Bible (ESV) and To Be A Christian: An Anglican Catechism, now shape the church of the 21st century. anglicancompass.com/j-i-packer-a-r…

The church remembers St. Alban on June 22nd for his sacrifice as the first martyr in the British Isles. Being a Christian among the Celtic people and the Roman occupiers was dangerous. Alban was a Roman citizen who hid a Christian priest and was arrested in his stead, leading to his execution for his newfound faith. anglicancompass.com/st-alban-proto…
