Rupert Lowe MP
Rupert Lowe MP@RupertLowe10·
My aim in court was to reclaim power for the elected MPs, and therefore the people, from the unelected bureaucrats - I failed. We now have the scandalous situation in which unqualified and unelected civil servants can wield parliamentary privilege to literally place themselves above the law. They now hold a special legal status which means they cannot be challenged in court - positioned even higher than MPs for whom the system was actually designed. Parliamentary privilege, an ancient right, exists so that MPs can speak without fear in the chamber, it does not exist to give faceless bureaucrats legal immunity. I wanted to challenge the system in an open and fair court, with ruthless transparency so that the British people could finally see the truth. Our judiciary has not allowed that to happen, enabling unelected civil servants to weaponise parliamentary privilege, designed for MPs, to entirely avoid scrutiny and fair legal challenge. Jacob Rees-Mogg, former Leader of the House of Commons, previously commented on the case. “Thus if Lowe wins, he will not have harmed Parliament, but defended it. For through cowardice we – and I was an MP at the time – abdicated our privileged responsibility and gave it to unelected boffins, who are not so much better than elected politicians after all, but much harder to eject.” A fair summary, yet here we are. I have come to the brutal conclusion that the only way to restore Britain is to win the next general election. That is our last available route out. Restore Britain is the only chance our country has.

> Defeat Britain's first BAME PM to get elected > Mass-arrest left wing radicals wanting to stop the Gaza genocide > Cut migration by over 2/3rds > Pass legislation to make it harder to get citizenship > Strengthen a new left wing party ran by a literal retard > Don't do a single thing your voters wanted you to do > Destroy the Labour party electorally > Give the new Right Wing party their best results ever > Say "I take responsibility and this strengthens my resolve" Is Kier Starmer secretly 'our guy'?

@DavidJFoord @Mathew_scfc @PolitlcsUK Repealing existing laws is what I said would be messy. They wouldn’t need to change data laws to make the list as they already have a ‘no-fly’ list for security purposes. They wouldn’t just need to expand this list

@AngloAgarthan @Mathew_scfc @PolitlcsUK Asking the government to repeal existing laws is bettwr than asking to make new ones. They will only ever make new laws to benefit their agenda. They'd have to change the data laws to be able to make the list themselves as well...

@Mathew_scfc @PolitlcsUK I figured it would if they shared it between airlines, but nothing to stop each airline making their own lists. If data laws are in the way they need to lobby for a law change not for the government to keep the list for them.

The TFR problem is concerning, but this is just not correct, historically Generally one had to have a way of providing a living for a family before getting married in the past, such as a spot as a tenant farmer or a farm of one's own. That took years, and older men would marry younger women, on average. Older meaning late twenties or early thirties compared to late teens or early twenties. The financial aspect of the marriage was important, and it was in part because it was secured that those families had a pretty high TFR The underclass/lowest rungs of the laboring class actually had a crushingly low TFR. They couldn't afford it, couldn't find wives, etc. That changed much more recently than most remember The result is that, as Peter Laslett notes well in The World We Have Lost, most of us, at least of Anglo stock, are descended from semi-prosperous farmers. Those below them just disappeared over time because they couldn't afford marriage or kids Such is, actually, much of what built our civilization. There was a constant drift of the more capable upper, upper middle, middle, and yeoman classes having to do other forms of work than they grew up doing because primogeniture meant the heir inherited most of the property. So, younger sons were driven on to do greater things or secure a living for themselves in the trades, in adventure, or whatever, then turn that into an estate or farm of their own, and this drove them outward toward great achievements, over time, as Virginia stands as a testament to. This meant the generally more competence-connected genes were constantly trickling into the other orders of society, and the culture of adventure and excellence was as well. At least in England.

The true essence of Englishness lies in the tension between these two. The guy who escapes a dead-end quaint folkish village in order to explore the world, create modernity and make his fortune “Dark Satanic Mill Maxing” in order to have enough money and self respect to retire, write and tend a garden and frequent a pub in a quaint folkish village. To have been on a hero’s journey and return.
ɖʀʊӄքǟ ӄʊռʟɛʏ 🇧🇹🇹🇩@kunley_drukpa

Problem with sanctioned celebrations of ‘Englishness’ is ‘The English’ being reduced to neutered folkish ewok hobbit indigenous jubjublanders and so to ‘just another ethnic group.’ Actually the most unique and provocative thing about ‘The English’ was their creation of modernity

The UK has a far flatter income distribution than the Communist Soviet Union. The UK take home minimum wage for working a full time job (40-hours) is now £22,555. At £100k salary, the take home is £68,558. That is a net income ratio of 3.04:1 We are now at the point where the wage compression and taxes in the UK means that the difference between minimum wage and a top 5% salary is a net income difference of only ~3x. In the USSR using the same comparison, this figure never fell below 5:1 It's actually even worse in reality because the person earning £100k in the UK often has student loans. Britain is nominally capitalist but functionally communist. China is nominally communist but functionally capitalist. Funny how that works.
