Using a diff-in-diff framework, I've estimated the impact of the 1913 Natives Land Act on South Africa's demographics at the magisterial district level. Districts that contained Native Land Areas saw large relative declines in Native population shares and Native population in 3 out of 4 provinces. Nationally, we see about a 5 percentage point decline in Native population shares and 24% decline in Native population compared to untreated districts.

"I know you've been skipping cardio" Wrong. That implies I've ever done or planned to do cardio.

The extent of support for Argentinas claim to the Falklands outside of Argentina can be interpreted as the degree to which the British will be opposed regardless of context. No sense in giving in to such opposition. UK would do well to remember that wrt the Chagos Islands.

Brains have actually been fried by leftist collective guilt nonsense because "our preferred race needs to own and control __% your company if you want to do business with the government" is insane. Do you realise how outrageous that policy sounds when you say it out loud??

It is bewildering how long you can read about SA industrial policy and manufacturing decline without anyone mentioning electricity and water prices going vertical or labour unions making sectoral bargaining a nightmare.

The government probably doesn't want any TNC to come in and build a giant factory or a local business to grow until it employs 100k people. When you effectively have a quasi state ran economy, it just becomes another mouth to feed in order to stay in power.

@FransdeKlerk77 Kenshi is absolutely brutal in the beginning but super satisfying when you get used to it. Really recommend you watch some beginners guides if you haven't already (unless you're like me and happy to spend the first like 10 hours of gameplay figuring out how to make any progress)

@Martin_ASFL Really quite shameful that the leader of the second largest party was so motivated by his own financial position. How did that effect negotiations over the GNU? Disagreements within the government? No transparency beyond public seats.

If this is all true, then GHL will characterise himself as an immense, generational leader by simply saying: "No. Not playing that game. Steenhuisen is out. He can go sing all he likes." He should have been fired a week ago already, but there's still time.
Alec Hogg@alechogg

WSM: Steenhuisen's News24 interview wasn't a confession — it was a ransom note. A threat, published in public, by a man who won't accept his own demotion. Here's why it matters.

Currently looking at residential unit additions in Cape Town and came across this. Firstly, note the large switch from "dwelling houses" to "flats" being the primary addition in Cape Town and the fact that the CoCT adds way more units than the other major metros. Secondly, what the hell happened in Joburg in 2018 and 2019?

Beating South Africa's current growth path would be so easy if you removed the ANC it makes you want to cry.
