QatarEnergy CEO Saad al-Kaabi just told Reuters that Iranian attacks damaged key parts of their LNG setup at Ras Laffan. Those three units cost about $26 billion to build years back but now they face around $20 billion in lost annual revenue. Not a one-time write-off but yearly hit from production offline for 3 to 5 years.
This knocks out 17 percent of Qatar's LNG export capacity right away. About 12.8 million tons per year gone for long time. They may declare force majeure on big contracts with Italy Belgium South Korea China and others. Helium down 14 percent naphtha and sulphur drop 6 percent too. CEO said he never imagined attack like this especially in Ramadan from a neighboring country
