US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent spoke on Fox Business today. He said the administration is thinking to lift sanctions on Iranian oil that is already on the water, about 140 million barrels stuck in tankers. This move is to add quick supply to global market and bring down high oil prices caused by the ongoing war and Strait of Hormuz issues. Prices are over 100 dollars per barrel for many days, hitting people hard. Bessent explained it as using those Iranian barrels against Iran itself, to keep prices low for next 10 to 14 days while the campaign continues. He noted most of that oil was heading to China anyway, so letting others buy it helps everyone except giving big win to Iran. This comes after US already eased some sanctions on Russian oil and Venezuelan oil for same reason, to calm energy markets during the conflict
