. @Lukowoyesigyire "The Territorial Police at Central Police Station (CPS) Kampala has successfully rescued Alyano Gladys, a seven-day-old infant, who was abducted on 6th August 2024 from her mother, Mamusena Miriam. Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect, identified as Akello Monica, orchestrated a scheme in collaboration with a local leader, Oswal John Elephant. The suspect lured pregnant women and new mothers under the false pretense of providing financial support from a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). After sending the other women away, Akello singled out Mamusena Miriam, informing her that to receive financial aid, she would need to provide a birth certificate. On the pretext of obtaining the certificate, Akello and the victim boarded two different motorbikes, with the suspect offering to hold the child. However, Akello disappeared with the infant shortly thereafter. Through diligent investigative efforts, the suspect was apprehended today, 14th August 2024, in Mulimila, Kamwokya Nakawa Division. During interrogation, Akello confessed to stealing the child in a bid to deceive her husband, who had been pressuring her to conceive. She claimed to have been feeding the child with bottled milk since the abduction. The Police are currently holding three suspects, including the victim’s sister, Akoli Bena, who allegedly assisted the suspect by identifying the child and assuring her that the victim, due to her financial constraints, would be unable to properly care for the baby. The infant, Alyano Gladys, has been safely returned to her mother and is awaiting medical examination. Further details will be provided as they become available.

Today I lectured senior officers undertaking the Senior Command and Staff Course at the Police Senior Command & Staff College in Bwebajja. I emphasized the strategic direction of @PoliceUg and called upon them to exhibit dedication, expertise and commitment in their duties.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS ON ARRESTS RELATED TO ATTEMPTS TO MARCH TO PARLIAMENT @mkituuma "Between July 22 and July 25, 2024, demonstrators attempted to #MarchToParliament in Kampala, leading to significant police intervention. July 22, 2024: Nine individuals were arrested and charged with common nuisance and traffic regulation violations, all of whom were taken to court. July 23, 2024: A total of 75 suspects were apprehended; 74 were subsequently taken to court, while one remains in police custody. July 24, 2024: Three individuals were arrested and charged with common nuisance offenses, all of whom were taken to court. July 25, 2024: Sixteen people were arrested; 13 were taken to court, and three are still in police custody. Overall, 104 individuals have been arrested during this period, with 100 already taken to court. Among those arrested, 13 had prior criminal charges.

Yesterday, I, along with top police management, met with representatives from the National Forensic Science University's Jinja campus to strengthen the partnership between the Uganda Police Force and the University.

Joint security forces in Karamoja yesterday 16th July 2024, successfully recovered two submachine Guns (SMG riffles). One riffle was voluntarily surrendered by Dowan Ameringiro from Lolachat in Nabilatuk District while the other riffle was forcibly recovered from NATO limo in Tapac Sub country, Moroto District. The operations against cattle thefts and the disarmament of rustlers are going on smoothly.
