It’s not just “rent” & you also pay:
- Property taxes
- Insurance
- HOA fees
- Maintenance
- Turnover costs
- Property management
- Legal costs
- Owner profit
…Very few people understand this.

There’s NO valid argument against the SAVE America Act. My bill would make it easy to vote. And hard to cheat. As soon as DHS is fully funded (as it should be within 48 hours), the Senate should resume consideration of it—and stay on the bill until it passes. Pass it on.

Not entirely true. You’re arguing the owner passes all costs to the renter. Rents still have supply/demand dynamics. Often time it is much cheaper to rent, and less risky. If someone buys their house vs rents the same house (we all need a place to sleep), in many places a disciplined renter can have much more money than if they bought the house and took all the liability risks for decades.
Btw, a landlord can also be a renter… investors can still rent where they sleep but own where others sleep 😉
