@Teilzeitotaku_1 Man will aber auch keine schlafenden Hunde wecken. Zumindest habe ich schon mehrfach gehört, dass um etwas ältere Titel auch mal eine Art Bieterwettstreit entstanden ist - obwohl die zuvor keiner ernsthaft auf dem Schirm hatte

@animeheadsretro Some companies are selling anime or live action Collector's Editions with VHS style packaging (on different effort levels), but actually included Blu-ray discs instead of tapes.

Although this is clearly an April Fool's joke..... ...... if it wasn't then it would totally sell in today's physical media and nostalgia driven pop culture landscape. Though it's likely not the case here part of me wonders when these companies do stuff like this whether there's a bit of testing the waters for if something is viable to release as a real product or not 😅 I personally have watched laserdiscs recently and very old DVDs that aren't remastered and have bad transfers in order to watch rare titles but I draw the line at VHS. I'd use a VHS player for capture and preservation purposes though just to save some titles from obscurity. #VHS #PhysicalMedia #Laserdisc #RetroAnime

@AniSenior @AnimeHeaven_De @Crunchyroll @Crunchyroll_de Claims für das einfache verwenden von Promomaterial etc. sind jedoch höchst unüblich. Wenn du in der LumenDatabase nachschaust sind außerdem von dem gleichen Claim ansonsten ausschließlich Piracy-Seiten betroffen. Wirkt hier eher nach einem Fehler.

@H1deandSh3ep @ProSiebenMAXX Das gilt im Prinzip für alle in 24 fps produzierten Serien. Es gibt vereinzelt noch Serien, die in 30 fps produziert werden, da nimmt man andere Lösungen (die etwas auf die Bildqualität gehen können). Und europäische Serien werden eh oft in 25 fps produziert.

@AniSenior @ProSiebenMAXX Müsste das dann aber nicht bei allen Serien gleichermaßen der Fall sein? Wie bereits erwähnt fällt es bei einigen sehr, bei anderen nur wenig auf. Dann gibt es noch Fälle, die ganz normal wirken.

Wundert uns nicht, dass nun fast alle #Anime im Angebot haben wollen. Dass das eine gute Idee ist, wissen wir ja schon seit 13 Jahren. #HomeOfAnime 😉 P.S. viele dieser Crunchyroll-Titel gibts bei uns oder Joyn kostenlos ohne Abokosten! #Justsaying 🤷‍♂️😅

@H1deandSh3ep @ProSiebenMAXX Die Beschleunigung um rund 4% hat technische Gründe, die aus der deutschen TV-Norm resultieren, die sich aus dem Stromsystem ableitet. Zumindest im TV und Livestream im Netz lässt sich das nicht wirklich ändern - höchstens in der Mediathek auf Abruf.

@ProSiebenMAXX Wäre schön, wenn ihr die Serien in normaler und nicht gepitchter oder leicht beschleunigter Fassung zeigen würdet. Bei JJK fällt es extrem auf. Bei Frieren und Solo Leveling ging es noch. Oder liegt es an Lizenzgründen?

@AriostoGamer @Tyromon1510 @Crunchyroll_de Die nicht übernommenen Titel waren überwiegend "fremde" Lizenzen (also z. B. von Peppermint) oder solche, die inzwischen schlicht abgelaufen sind (einige Kazé, aber auch z. B. Nipponart). Eigene Lizenzen verlängert Crunchyroll zuverlässiger als fast alle anderen Dienste.

@JoachimHesse @NintendoDE Im Bereich DVDs und Blu-rays z. T. viel schlimmer. Hier wird oft direkt das komplette Produkt gefälscht - zwar nicht 1:1 (insbesondere weil manche der gefälschten Originale nur im TV oder auf VHS existieren), aber dafür inklusive Datenträger...

Offen präsentieren Firmen online die professionelle Produktion von #Kopien alter #Spielepackungen, die sie konsequenzlos bei Etsy & Co anbieten: facebook.com/share/r/18EUVQ… Laien können diese von Originalen nicht unterscheiden. Kauft besser keine zu gut erhaltenen #Retrospiele mehr!

@Real_Kilometers Out of their own Top 100 most popular stats, only one (Case Closed) wasn't fully available on any US streaming service - and one other was exclusive to a service that didn't include any other title from that list. And they didn't only stole subs - they stole dubs as well

HiAnime is dead, so here's a few important pieces of context to remember: 1. It was the biggest bootleg anime platform in the States, accounting for ~15% of all anime piracy with ~4M US monthly users per White Box analysis. 2. It was a for-profit outlet. That was its purpose. It made the people running it a *lot* of money. It was not helpful for media preservation. 3. Many cite accessing unlicensed/unavailable anime as a key benefit, but that represented less than 1% of US viewership per White Box. The most popular titles on HiAnime were broadly the most broadly available. 4. That said, a slight majority of people who used HiAnime also used legit outlets for anime as well, which showed that many people used it to "fill gaps" or because they didn't know where to watch a certain series. 5. Most of the subtitles (90%+) were not "fansubs" but rips of the official subtitles. When it was a fansub, they were ripped from the fansub group and monetized, which isn't really any better IMO. 6. The hydra head is real, and there are plenty of other outlets for piracy. That said, whenever the top pirate site goes down, some % switch to legal services, which goes back to fund the industry. Most anime revenue comes from overseas these days, and streaming revenue is the biggest driver of overseas revenue. Every view counts! 7. No one is "wrong" or bad or anything for having used these kinds of sites, particularly if they have no other means to do so. However, if you have no other option, I'd strongly encourage you to seek out venues that don't directly finance the people exploiting anime against the wishes of the creators. Even with ad-block, you're providing economic incentives for bootleggers by using these sites. I'd recommend learning about torrenting instead.

I’m curious about trying out different import methods for JP manga after my recent Kinokuniya purchases. Here’s a breakdown of the costs for Kinokuniya… I became a member which was $25, but that gets you 10% off and free shipping. There was also no tariff/import fees.

@Ory_Senpai Amazon Japan's minimum shipping rate to the US is 2400 JPY + a weight based amount (which is usually about 400-500 JPY per Manga). So it adds up very fast.

So I ended up paying almost 1700 yen/volume. More than 2.5x the price per book. Again though, you’re not paying any import fees, or shipping… But, what if we had a friend buy it and imported it ourselves…? Hmm 🤔

@Blacknatwatch @Inspirenaire And even then: Movies on the "index" only are banned from being advertised on places that are accessible by minors. They are still allowed to be sold to any adult with the only requirement that the seller checks the customers age.

@Blacknatwatch @Inspirenaire "Very common"? There wasn't a single new addition of a movie to the "index" since summer 2023. And even the last new additions to the "index" prior were extreme splatter & gore content

This clip shows how original versions of TV shows have been shortened via syndication and streaming. But the bigger takeaway is that most people don’t realize it. In an era where books are being banned and original materials are becoming harder to find. This is just a small/fun example of that concept. If we don’t hold on to original copies of books, newspapers, magazines, vinyl, commercial VHS tapes, television recorded VHS tapes, cassette tapes, DVDs, original news broadcasts etc, we will watch history be edited with holes in it where things are missing and presented as though it is the complete picture. Here’s a light example of that concept.
