the thing about dragon ball that many people don’t understand (and also why so many people like the buu arc) that at its core it’s a comedy. it’s written by the japanese equivalent of charles schulz. it’s supposed to be funny that gohan goten and trunks are complete failures lol

Dragon Ball is a very good series. But it makes so many mistakes that the better modern shonens have learned not to do. Literally ends on an arc where Goku talks about "leaving it to the next generation". Then the next generation eats shit and he comes back to handle it himself.

@kzzrttt imo it's one of the biggest issues caused by people not starting with DB, if they even experience it at all. Dragon Ball was written as 1 continuous story, & had much more of a focus on comedy until DKP. if you start with Z, you lose out on a lot the more comedic stuff until you
