#Russia is demanding that #Armenia commit suicide; otherwise, it threatens to impose sanctions on us and declare an economic war. For Armenia, slowing down or canceling the process of deepening relations with the #EU and #USA would be tantamount to suicide. Russia portrays Armenia’s partnership with the West as a step against Russia, whereas in reality it is about increasing our state’s resources and strengthening our resilience. We will never become a forward outpost against Russia, Iran, Turkey, or Azerbaijan. But Russia does not seem to envision any other role for us in the region. We have ceased to be an instrument of Russian policy in the South Caucasus, particularly in the Turkish direction. And this is what angers Russia. It has lost a tool, which has led to a decline in its influence in the region. We have begun to realize that, as a state, we have sovereign interests that may conflict with Russia’s interests. If we retreat and comply with Russia’s demand to halt partnership with the United States and the EU, it will lead to our country’s isolation or “Belarusization.” It will cause an unprecedented increase in dependence on Russia, which would effectively mean the loss of statehood. The only solution we have is to pursue an independent foreign policy by strengthening our own political, security, and economic resources. This will increase Armenia’s role in the region. Cooperation with the United States and the EU in the fields of international communication, economy, and security will change and enhance our country’s significance. The process of accession to the EU is the institutional path for our country’s development and growth. We must withstand Russian pressure and sanctions while preserving the right to conduct an independent foreign policy. The alternative is the loss of statehood.

Once again, a country—this time #Israel—recognizes the Armenian Genocide. Israel has attempted to do this several times before but ultimately refrained from doing so. Now it is taking this step against the backdrop of strained relations with Turkey. #Armenia gains nothing from this recognition. This is not even a moral victory, because they have turned the tragedy of our people into a tool for punishing one another. If Israel had done this at a time when it had no problems with #Turkey, I would have expressed my gratitude. Now they are turning our pain into an instrument of political struggle, which is not moral. Armenia's priority should be the normalization of relations with Turkey and the opening of the border. Only then will it be possible to discuss historical issues not as a means of punishing one another, but as a way of confronting current problems. Recognition of the Genocide is needed more by Turkey itself, so that morality can return to politics. It would strengthen Turkey from within rather than lead to its collapse. Turkey is a multiethnic state, and recognition would only strengthen the confidence of its diverse society in the Turkish state. For many years, the Armenian lobby has viewed the issue of the #Genocide as a means of punishing Turkey, and I believe this is the reason why that country has been cautious about recognizing it. The philosophy surrounding this issue needs to change. The #ArmenianGenocide is our shared past, and it must never be repeated. The issue cannot have the purpose of punishing one another. This historical tragedy is our common past, and the primary indication that lessons have been learned from it will be normalization and the elimination of hostility. It is condemnable when our tragedy is used purely for self-serving purposes. At the same time, I understand that expecting morality in international relations is a naïve undertaking.

Last night, our long-range sanctions targeted the occupiers’ military logistics, oil industry, and air defense. All of this is a just response to Russia’s brutal attacks against our people. I thank the warriors of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Unmanned Systems Forces, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, and the Special Operations Forces for their successful work at a distance of about 300 kilometers from the frontline. Facilities on both sides of the Crimean Bridge were hit: maritime logistics used to transport oil in the Krasnodar region and an oil depot in temporarily occupied Kerch. In addition, military logistics facilities were successfully struck, along with four radar stations belonging to S-400 systems and two Pantsir systems. I am grateful to all our warriors for their precision and professionalism. Russia understands only strength, and our long-range strength is certainly working for peace. Glory to Ukraine!
