@thatmags @JeremyDBond And within districts. Only one of my buildings has a program for Ss who are medically fragile. Another building hosts the Ss with behavior needs.

@thatmags @JeremyDBond In KS, GT is under the SPED umbrella, IEP and all. CO-OPs already bus SPED Ss to other districts for services everyday. Why not GT Ss? #gtchat

@JeremyDBond @thatmags @JeremyDBond this was discussed at our last State BOE meeting. Spreading Ss out in buildings throughout the community so there is enough space for physical distancing. #gtchat. We already bus GT Ss once every other week for a focus group. #gtchat

@thatmags Why not "school outside the school"? The only scenario where our district suggested it'd bring kids together across schools is for distance learning. That makes sense logically, but we could spread "schools" out more too--for public health AND differentiation. #gtchat @annacalven

@thatmags [sigh] I know. However, I can always hope for change. Kansas is exploring a more Ss centered approach to education with its State wide Redesign initiative. #gtchat

Thanks for sharing everyone. I hope we use this year to come up with amazing solutions to problems that we encounter and make things even better for Ss. #gtchat

A6) Part of me wonders if we need to go to a school within a school model for GT Ss. Group them together from multiple schools/small districts. #gtchat #justanidea

A6) Many districts us a computer software system that allows students to learn independently. Easy button is to allow each Ss to learn at their level. Not their same age grade level. No schedule modification needed. It can be done on site or at home. #gtchat

@IndlLearning I get chills when ordered to conform for conformity's sake or so that it is for the adults. #gtchat

A5) We must first remember that behavior is a form of communication. Was the student using the behavior to communicate something that they cannot verbalize? Get to the root of the issue and many times natural consequences take their course. #gtchat

A4) I think Ss will also mirror adults around them as well. So we will really need to check ourselves before we step into the classroom. Although some GT Ss see past our emotional masks and pick up on it anyway. #gtchat

A3 Educators may want to reexamine their core curriculum re-framing content over memorization, considering ‘big picture’ concepts rather than fine details, and developing transitional units to fill gaps. #gtchat

@AnnaCalven @gtchatmod Do you mean within my classroom? Sure. We already differentiate but they won’t all come back to the round table to work together. They will stay in their desks. #gtchat

A2 Flexible ability grouping may be necessary to respond to the needs of many students. This could reduce teacher workload and help both the most vulnerable as well as high achievers. Blended learning may meet many needs. #gtchat

@gtchatmod A2) we have already been told we cannot mix kids with other classes for the flexible grouping that benefits all kids. Seriously, students will not be returning to school as they know it. #gtchat

@gtchatmod A1. … & that said: they DO NOT want to go back. They are exploring college level classes and other ways to get needed credits (and engagement). Which in retrospect made use realize - some gifted children DO INDEED need radical acceleration or alternative to standard ed #gtchat

A2) Ts will need to pre-assess where each student really is and go from there. We will also need to plan on plugging in things they missed with current learning. Some Ss may have made tons of gains during #learningathome #gtchat
