PSA: That upgrade offer from your airline might be (& probably is) a rip-off. For instance, AA is teasing a $290 upgrade to first class on an upcoming flight. But by instead CHANGING my flight & rebooking in first class on that exact same flight, it's just $88.

@AnnaCheng6626 I think that’s exactly what’s happening. $220k doesn’t sound like much now but I remember when my sister bought a place in Vancouver in ‘93 for $250k and I was thinking ‘A quarter of a million!, that’s nuts’.
