"We are here, we are queer, and it is time to change the law" Independent MP Alex Greenwich has introduced his LGBTQIA+ Equality Bill into NSW Parliament this morning, which he claims will be the state's most comprehensive reform of its kind in history | #nswpol @AlexGreenwich The Bill would make gay conversion practices illegal in NSW and ban discrimination practices against LGBTQIA+ teachers and students at private schools. "At the heart of the Equality Legislation Amendment: LGBTQIA+ Bill and the Conversion Practices Prohibition Bill is the truth that LGBTQIA+ people exist, are struggling, should be recognised and protected by law and allowed to thrive," Greenwich said. "It is emotionally destructive to be told that you are bad, sinful, to blame for who you are and that you need to change something intrinsic about yourself."

Last week the ACT govt. passed Australia’s first protections against unnecessary medical interventions on intersex people, without their consent. We were on the ground to see the reactions from Intersex advocates, who have spent years campaigning for this across Aus.
