@123itsmeMary exactly what i responded. classes like American Lit, English Lit, Theatre helps bridge the gap of english nuances like understanding a metaphor using context clues. it’s more than just knowing C A T means cat. it’s like the ppl who misunderstood it proved the point being made.

And the gag is I have a degree in both. The reading for STEM is very literal and exact.
The average school-aged child is not merely reading facts. Comprehension requires context clues, interpretation, metaphors so all they did was prove my point 😭

@KristyT it’s simple the more you read the more words you know if you’re reading scripts and play rights more often you’re going to know words like silhouette and gauche. The fact that those classes are being removed is pushing the literacy crisis. I can’t believe I had to explain that 🙄
