@melikofararat I understand that viewpoint. However, I approach architecture more from the perspective of an art historian. That is why I am interested to know what you regard as the ideal of beauty in Armenian architecture. )
English

@Annartwitch No, that is nonsense. The purpose of architecture is to inspire and lift man’s soul. Beauty must always prevail to help man find God, to help man return to Ararat.
When man meets ugliness, he must destroy it before it destroys him.
English

@dsa_seeker @melikofararat The Cascade dates from the 1970s–80s, while the sculptures in front of it began to be installed only from 2002 onward. And I agree that they do not harmonize at all either with the Cascade itself or with Armenian art.
English

@Annartwitch @melikofararat Maybe you are right as I not In Armenia for 3 years
English

@melikofararat And what if we speak about architecture not in terms of beauty or ugliness, but as the language of the time? People may have different opinions about aesthetics, but every period in architectural history can deepen our understanding of a particular historical era. Isn’t it?
English

@Annartwitch Yes, I am conserving my energy for my return to Ararat.
What is sad is your inability to discern between Beauty and degeneracy. I will pray for your beautiful soul.
English

@dsa_seeker @melikofararat But that’s no longer part of the Cascade ensemble, and it appeared much later! Why mix everything together when they are different things? As for the controversial nature of those sculptures and their placement - I agree with you.
English

@Annartwitch @melikofararat Even the fat naked woman down statue at the base or the naked fat soldier with his ding dung out?, or there was a lion made by rubber?
English

@melikofararat Are you too lazy to write about what matters to you? That’s sad. (
English

@Annartwitch If you ask why, then I am afraid there is nothing for us to talk about.
English

@dsa_seeker @melikofararat And what about the tradition of terraced structures in mountainous landscapes? In my opinion, if you know the history of architecture, the connections and similarities are quite clear.
English

@melikofararat @Annartwitch I don't understand anything related to Cascade in Yerevan, it is nothing related to the people in the land all are alien designs
English

@melikofararat Why? And compared to what? To Garni, Tatev, or Geghard?
English

@HovhanNaz Yes, and besides that - it’s also a symbol of the sun! For example, here is the sun symbol at the monastery of Noravank. )

English

@mattalica73 There’s also a wonderful architecture museum nearby)) Though hardly anyone knows about it.

👁 Romantic modernism in Yerevan :) The ensemble with the "Stone Flower" fountain near Yerevan Metro’s Republic Square station (1981). Architects: Jim Torosyan and Mkrtich Minasyan. #Armenia #Yerevan #modernism #brutalism

👁 A whimsical ribbon-shaped fence from the 1980s on Paronyan Street in Yerevan - actually one of the masterpieces of Soviet modernism (brutalism). Architect: Eduard Tangyan. #Armenia #Yerevan #modernism #brutalism

👁 In Yerevan, I saw the ensemble of the 1980s modernist buildings of the Polytechnic University. These windows in the shape of four petals can be seen in the painting "Sirius-B" by contemporary Russian artist Anton Frolov. #architecture #retrofuturism #1980s #modernism #երևան

@Annartwitch @LucyluvsMoon1 I actually drank some of those cups over there. They were pretty good.
