My stepmother, Tuhan, was a fashion designer in the small community of Poskam County in Kashgar. She married my father after he lost my mother, Meryem, who died at the age of 28. An estimated 25,000 to 50,000 prisoners a year in Xinjiang camps are being selected for forced organ harvesting according to human rights investigator Ethan Gutmann. He says Uyghurs, Kazakhs, and others of Turkish ethnicity are being targeted for organ transplants from over a million detainees in the north-western region. Talking about his new book ‘The Xinjiang Procedure’ at an event held by the Hudson institute, Gutmann calculates around 200,000 people ”at a minimum” have died from forced organ harvesting in the region since 2017. Gutmann has provided testimony and briefings for the US Congress, CIA, FBI, UN, EU, and parliaments in Prague, Stockholm, Ottawa, Canberra, Paris, Dublin, Jerusalem, Berlin, Tokyo, and Westminster.

China Showcases East Turkistan Artifacts in Greece While Erasing Uyghur Identity and History ATHENS — An exhibition of archaeological reproductions from East Turkistan opened at the Byzantine and Christian Museum in Athens on May 7, drawing warm coverage from Chinese state media and interest from Greek scholars. Absent from the event, and from Xinhua News Agency's nearly 1,200-word report about it, was any reference to the Uyghur people — the region's largest Turkic population and the bearers of much of the cultural tradition the artifacts represent. The exhibition, titled Symphony of Civilizations on the Silk Road, was organized by Chinese state institutions and presents 44 reproductions drawn from eight museums and research bodies across the region Beijing designates as the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, known historically as East Turkistan.
