Full-time politicians must choose a "camp" but the rest of us should make our mind up on each individual issue, striving for the truth whichever side that takes us to on that particular topic. I don't identify as left wing, right wing OR centrist.

Christians shouldn't be boastful, arrogant or self-righteous. We didn't save ourselves; God did it.

@Age_of_Greed @iamAtheistGirl Not so, Adrian. Christians worship a Trinitarian God, i.e. one God in three persons (Father, Son & Holy Spirit). In Islam, it's sinful to see Jesus as God's son. Islam traces its roots to Abraham but wasn't in fact invented till 100s of years after the Bible.

these folk who say silly things like “i’m a christian and i don’t worship the same god that muslims worship” yeah. you do. jews, muslims, and christians all worship the same god of abraham. hence the label “abrahamic religions” but with all manmade gods they reflect the thoughts of the men who wrote about them so you get different flavors of the same god of abraham it’s really that simple

@Ne_chloropterus @ArchTheAtheist Sorry, I still don't understand. I don't believe the Loch Ness monster exists. I'm not going to argue with someone who says that's my belief. It IS my belief!

Christianity isn’t a remotely believable idea. It’s not even a serious consideration Christians can’t see how nonsensical it all is

@Ne_chloropterus @ArchTheAtheist Maybe I didn't make myself clear, sorry. I know atheism isn't a whole religion. But your answer to the single question you mention is still a belief. You believe there is no god. And presumably you believe that belief is true or you wouldn't have it.

@banks_neche You sound very proud of yourself. Deconstructing religion is no bad idea, but Jesus most certainly does exist. Cutting him out of your life won't make it better.

i need a christian who hates islam to explain why they hate islam. all i’ve ever seen is them spout lies about islam as if their version of christianity isn’t exactly the same. both religions came from the same book and worship the same god.

A prisoner told me that when you feel like you're hanging on by a thread, it's better to think of that thread as an umbilical cord connected to God. I like that.

@iamAtheistGirl It's not aggressive, or it shouldn't be. If I was a beggar who'd found a limitless supply of food, and you were also a beggar, it wouldn't be "aggressive" of me to share my good news. That is precisely the spirit in which Christians want to "convert" you.

in my experience of the three main abrahamic religions christians are the most aggressive in trying to convert others. muslims rarely do it. i’ve never had a jewish person try and convert me.

@ArchTheAtheist Seriously? So you don't think that your belief that no-one made the world is a truth claim? Surely you believe that atheism is true or you wouldn't believe it? I don't understand that, sorry.

@AnneDroid Atheism isn’t a truth claim. There’s nothing to believe about it. Nothing nonsensical Christianity is the nonsensical truth claim. Atheism is merely recognizing that Atheism and theism aren’t equivalent

@Yousavewithus Well... yes in so far as an instinct goes. I'm definitely more "yes" than "no" to your question but not all questions have a yes/no answer. As a Christian, I find that being in communion with God adds a lot to my moral understanding.

@StardustVibes_ Trans-identifying people are human, no question. Those of us who remember why separate sports, prisons, rape shelters, toilets, changing rooms etc were created for women and girls are not for one minute suggesting trans-identifying people are not human.

@___TheGOOdWitch Watching this self-satisfied atheist speak so patronisingly (hope he changes his mind), a Johnny Cash lyric popped unbidden into my head: "Rod said, "I don't believe in God" Rod died and lies beneath the sod For God did not believe in Rod".

@AmandaTher90734 @w_bitterman @AmandaTher90734 that's really sad. I'm sorry you've had that experience. Human beings - in both churches and bars - can be unpleasant creatures. Assuming you're not a warmonger yourself, the church could do with your presence so think of coming back.

@w_bitterman I don’t care. Never going back to church again. War zone, nothing but fighting, power struggles. I get treated better at a bar than at a church.

@VinceSonat @JOKAQARMY1 @VinceSonat, we can NEVER lose our uniqueness so don't let that be an issue! Evil hive minds like Star Trek's "Borg" are (quite rightly) horrors to us. But becoming a Christian and becoming "in Christ" along with 1000s of others is sweet and beautiful.

I agree but I think religion is against God and authenticity. Cause when you join a tribe, you hand over your uniqueness and join a hive mind, which is the complete opposite of being authentic, which means it's ultimately anti god. So yes I am for God, but I am against tribalism and the hive mind.

"Christ in us" is Biblical for Christians, and it's wonderful. But it's mentioned nowhere near as often as us being "in Christ", such a rich and deep description... With our western individualism, it doesn't come naturally to get this, but we are in him.

@pureMetatron 1. Christians have a whole variety of political views, being a whole variety of people. 2. Jesus is Jesus. He didn't want or need to have a political "side" because he himself is in fact The Truth.

So let me get this straight. Christians are apparently overwhelmingly far-right but at the same time Jesus was basically a communist. Did I get this right?
