One year ago exactly, I acquired the Psychedelics Anonymous brand for my 30th birthday. Since then, I’ve had others call me washed up, a ‘has been’, crazy, delusional, stupid, and even insane.
Today I turned 31.
So as a fun experiment, here’s 31 insights from my time across cryptocurrency I wish I knew earlier. I hope they help you.
Let’s review:
1. Roadmaps don’t matter without story.
2. Hype dies fast. Consistency doesn’t.
3. The loudest voices aren’t necessarily the most trusted. Sometimes they’re just the most dramatic.
4. Art gets attention. Purpose keeps it.
5. Real community isn’t built in Discord or Telegram or even X. It’s built in belief, and tested by FUD.
6. Most people are only looking out for themselves. Be more generous than them and you’ll win more often. Karma is very real.
7. Liquidity is emotion in disguise.
8. Scarcity only works when there’s meaning.
9. Speculation shifts. Culture remains.
10. Clarity and simplicity beat complexity, every single time.
11. Engagement is not the same as alignment or aligned community vision.
12. Just because it sells doesn’t mean it will last. Proper distribution ensures it does.
13. Vision without structure burns out.
14. Not every collector is your audience.
15. Virality can dilute a message if the foundation isn’t ready or healthy.
16. Most criticism is projection. The rest is feedback worth its price in gold.
17. Hype rewards noise. Legacy rewards resilience.
18. Traders want to make more money, they do not want to be your friend.
19. Lore isn’t read. It’s literally felt.
20. Trust can’t be built in a bull. It’s revealed during the most bearish of times.
21. Too much innovation without a clear direction creates confusion.
22. Revenue isn’t growth. It’s a metric. Community health and retention are.
23. Transparency isn’t optics. It’s oxygen.
24. If the brand doesn’t evolve, it dies.
25. NFTs aren’t products. They’re membership niche experiences now on the blockchain.
26. Copying other brands may kill you more than failing ever could.
27. Every trade teaches you more. If you don’t take notes and adjust, you will lose.
28. The people that stay by your side are generally more valuable than the ones who were early.
29. Creative direction and memetics are artistic languages. Master them and you’ll speak to new audiences.
30. A crypto brand is never the logo. It’s the feeling after the wallet disconnects. Make it a damn good feeling if you want to win.
31. You can’t fake soul or consistency. The blockchain records and rewards culture.
Thanks for reading everyone.
