We had an incredible time at #SFB2026 in Atlanta last week! @Nicole_E_Friend and @NolanPetrich gave incredible talks on some of our photo-tunable and photo-responsive materials. We also got the chance to catch up with some lab alum who were in town for both SFB and ACS!

We are incredibly proud of Tvishi Yendamuri (one of our fantastic undergrads), who defended her honors thesis today! We are honored she has chosen to spend the last ~3 years calling our lab home and can't wait to see her shine in her next position 💫

🥳🍾 Super excited to share one of the last papers from my PhD, out today in @Matter_CP. In this work, we introduce a very fast-relaxing (half time of ~seconds) *and* photopolymerizable hydrogel that allows for projection-based cell encapsulation in dynamic matrices. Link below!

Congratulations to Kristi for being featured in Forbes 50 Over 50: Innovation list! She was recognized for “inventing tissue substitutes that restore or improve function and advance treatments for everything from broken bones to diseased heart valves!”

The Photopolymerization Fundamentals Conference was held in Boulder this week, where our lab was represented by very talented undergrad students Audrey and Jaxon, and amazing PhD students @NolanPetrich and Mark!

We're incredibly excited to announce that Kristi has received the 2025 @theNAEng Founders Award for her contributions to polymer science and tissue engineering. This award will be presented in person on 10/5 in Washington, DC — congratulations, Kristi!

At our CU-CSU Summit on chronic diseases, @KaustavBera11 of @AnsethGroup and @CUEngineering presented his groundbreaking research on #organoids and how we can use them to understand tissue health and diseases. It was #inspiring to learn about the innovative work at @CUBoulder!

My final paper from graduate school is out now! Another fantastic collaboration between @RPMGroupCU and @AnsethGroup, we show that mechanical anisotropy of liquid crystals can be retained in hydrogels through clever chemistry and biofabrication approaches! doi.org/10.1002/adfm.2…

We have many things to share that we are celebrating: we had two fantastic summer undergrads, Kaeden and Aahana, who leave today 🥹 Grad students Mark and Bruce both defended their PhD theses!! 🥳 Plus, grad student Nolan received an NSF-GRFP award 👏Congratulations to all! 🎊 🎉
