If you are a delegate to the LP National Convention, get ready to stay for Platform business on Monday, Memorial Day, and vote down this atrocious re-introduction of abortion into our national Platform. See details attached.

@NH_Ancap @LPVT802 LPNH. And yes, they should be disaffiliated for endorsing Trump. Leave. Go. Don’t let door hit you on the ass on your way out.

@AnswerIsLibrty @LPVT802 You’re had more than half a century to figure it out and have failed miserably. I realized the national LP was doing more harm than good in the late 1990s and stopped renewing my membership. I’m only a member of the NHLP which National would like to get rid of.

@Weir4Liberty I wish you would focus on decorum in LNC meetings, Ben, and not how delegates dress at convention.

Tonight I sent the following email to the Libertarian National Committee requesting a dress code for business conventions addition to the policy manual to be applied in Grand Rapids and future national conventions. Members of the Libertarian National Committee, I am requesting consideration of a proposed addition to the Libertarian Party Policy Manual establishing a baseline professional dress standard for participation in official proceedings at the upcoming Grand Rapids National Convention and all future conventions. This proposal is not intended to impose ideological conformity or unnecessary rigidity, but rather to maintain a minimum standard of professionalism and decorum during the Party’s highest governing function. I respectfully request that a member of the LNC introduce the following language for consideration: "Proposed Policy Manual Addition — Convention Decorum and Attire Standards Section X.X — Delegate and Speaker Attire Requirements In order to preserve a professional atmosphere during all official sessions of the Libertarian Party National Convention, the following minimum attire standards shall apply to all delegates, alternates, speakers, candidates, and individuals addressing the convention body from a microphone during official business sessions: -Men shall wear collared shirts or equivalent business casual attire. -Closed-toe shoes shall be required for all participants engaging in convention floor business. -Business casual attire shall be considered acceptable minimum dress. -Neatly groomed facial hair shall be permitted. -Attire commonly understood to be intentionally disruptive, overtly theatrical, fetish-oriented, or materially inconsistent with the professional conduct of convention proceedings shall not be permitted during official business sessions. -Biological males shall not wear dresses, skirts, or attire traditionally recognized as women’s wear while participating in official convention business or addressing the body. The Chair, or any officer designee, shall have authority to deny microphone privileges, voting privileges, or floor participation to individuals not meeting these minimum standards until compliance is achieved. These standards shall apply only during official convention business sessions and shall not govern private social events, hospitality functions, or unofficial gatherings associated with convention activities." Regardless of differing views on culture or presentation, I believe most reasonable delegates agree that basic standards of professionalism strengthen the credibility and seriousness of the Party’s national proceedings. Thank you for your timely consideration of this matter! Respectfully, Ben Weir

🗣️A procedure in which death is the intended outcome is not a medical treatment. LP convention delegates: Vote NO on this proposed platform amendment which would add abortion to the health care plank!

@amitylee13 Ok. My apologies. I must have confused you with someone else. We are for individual choice. Including abortion. No reason it shouldn’t be in the platform, IMO. Agree to disagree.

@AnswerIsLibrty I never said anything about the government banning it. I said I don’t want it included in the healthcare portion (or any part) of our national plank.

@Trekkie0805 @amitylee13 Stupid analogy. Almost 70% of all Americans want abortion legalized in same form. Especially in the 1st trimester or before viability. Anti-abortion advocates are the minority.

@amitylee13 Perhaps I misunderstand. You state you don’t agree government should intervene, but you want abortion banned. Who do you want to ban it, if not the government? What about in the case of incest or rape? Would you force a woman to give birth under those circumstances?

@amitylee13 Or what about cases where if a fetus was to come to term, would have a severe debilitating medical condition? Brain dead, for example? A vegetable. Still against abortion in that case?

@amitylee13 Disagree. If you don’t agree with abortion, then don’t get an abortion. But don’t tell what they can or can’t do. Government shouldn’t be involved. Libertarianism 101. What about cases of incest or rape? Should the woman be forced to give birth?

@WexlerRules The Nimmo trade was made, in part, to open an outfield spot for Benge and Ewing. And he had 5 more years. Bad contract.

I say this as a long-time Nimmo fan. The trade was always one that wouldn't fairly be judged until years down the line (5 years on his contract). Carson Benge has a 157 wRC+ in May. McNeil/Nimmo 1.1 fWAR, Benge/Semien (Semien admittedly has been awful) 0.2 fWAR
New York Post Sports@nypostsports

Brandon Nimmo (.784 OPS, higher than every qualified Met) accepted the trade to Texas after a brief conversation with David Stearns. It reminded him of talking to a car dealer, only the dealer was selling him on walking away. Read more from Jon Heyman: trib.al/p6V3Qfd

@orcawhale @Weir4Liberty Well said. The ship started sinking shortly after Reno….because of Heise and McArdle. Simple arithmetic. But I surmise Ben doesn’t see it that way.

We know why it's sinking, because we have the numbers. The Republican attack on the party starting in November 2020 has destroyed 80% of membership and donations. That includes the absolute evil that is the LPNH takeover with clowns like Kauffman. It includes Heise and McArdle. It included Dave Smith. We're seeing their bullshit be pushed out and states doing so growing like crazy. It's pretty simple: this is a political party for Libertarians and not Republicans. Fight the Republicans out of the party and it'll explode again. 45% of the country is ready for that change now.

The LP spends more time fighting over who controls the life raft than asking why the ship keeps sinking in the first place.

@netesq @FreeRangeWhites My understanding in NH is….you can deny to provide ID during an investigation and not be arrested for refusing to ID. But once arrested, you have to provide ID. I would surmise if detained and a cop is on the fence about arresting you, failure to ID would sway his decision.

@AnswerIsLibrty @FreeRangeWhites It’s a strange ID statute in New Hampshire with regard to “Terry stops,” as it doesn’t actually allow the police to do anything with an uncooperative suspect, but there are other statutes that do require suspects to identify themselves, such as being in an auto accident.

In no alternate legal reality is “Kauffman going to score a precedent-setting judicial victory” here. If he hires a competent criminal defense lawyer, he *MIGHT* be able to plead guilty to a misdemeanor with deferred entry of judgment, ultimately resulting in dismissal.
White Mountain Supremacist@FreeRangeWhites

The funniest part of all this is that Kauffman is going to score a precedent-setting judicial victory over this which will advance liberty in New Hampshire yet again and in the meantime all the bucket crabs will still have done nothing except complain about him.

@AnswerIsLibrty @FreeRangeWhites There’s been a significant amount of news coverage, and none of it supports the narrative that JK is advancing. *IF* he retains a competent lawyer, he *MIGHT* be able to plead guilty, obtain deferred entry of judgment, and ultimately get the whole thing to go away. Will he?

@netesq @FreeRangeWhites Admittedly, I really don’t pay attention to JK. Look like he was charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing government administration. According to IPR, anyway.
