It’s a lovely morning in the village, and you’re on a rocket halfway to Mars. If you tried signing in to Ante Vaults with a Privy magic link, the 9 light-min roundtrip would take >10min, making the link invalid. That’s why we have a recovery kit! ante.org

i've been thinking about how to prepare for death recently i feel like one way is kind of the dry spirit route, where we're either doing our breath meditation, or maybe nondual stuff, kind of dissolving the ego, etc. and then the other route is we are like, well, ok, simulation hypothesis is looking more likely by the day (both more technically feasible and just the unfathomable coincidence of being alive just right now), a lot of ancient traditions and so on seem to point in the same direction, so maybe there's some value to just doing a bunch of tibetan practices and/or DMT and really getting to know the anteroom of the highest probability next step after this one also, of course, living well day to day and being good to those around us seems like a gimme but... curious if others have been thinking about this and where you've landed

there's this zen story, i can't remember where i heard it a rich man comes to a renowned monk asking for the secret to enlightenment. the monk tells him "it's simple! sell everything you own and convert it into smooth white stones, about an inch in diameter" for whatever reason, the guys does it. this takes years and years. handling logistics to get all these stones dumped in a special place he's bought for the purpose, etc. he's slowly dismantling his business empire bit by bit like in universal paperclips, etc. finally he's done and he goes back to the monk. "i did it! i converted all my wealth into white stones!" and the monk says, "who wants a bunch of white stones?" --- i remember reading this and thinking it was bullshit. at best, kind of a heavy-handed metaphor, but most likely some kind of thinly veiled class warfare however! i think there is a real experience this is pointing towards because -- it's a zen story, right? so i believe the implication has to be, after this, the man was enlightened why? well, imagine how he must have felt in that moment. he's just destroyed everything he's ever worked for. furthermore, this guy he trusted for advice has entirely fucked him over. and he looks like a total idiot, because obviously, OBVIOUSLY what he was doing was never going to work, which should have been apparent with even a moment's consideration for someone who has dedicated their life to accumulating wealth, this is basically the worst you can feel and my proposal is, in that moment... the man felt it... and realized -- hey, this is... just experience. THIS, right here, is the thing i've been avoiding my entire life, and... it's just experience! now! probably if this were real, the next thought he would have would be, you know, "jesus fuck, this was in no way worth it, i've been had, etc. etc.," and the monk would have really unjustifiably have ruined this dude's life on the relative scale, for basically no reason (except for our benefits as hearers of the story, and for his own sick pleasure maybe) but! i think if we view the story as more of a pointer than a formula, it kind of makes sense, where the pointer is, hey, when you are feeling absolutely down in the shitter... just check in. is this a potential moment of awakening? and then of course, at my low level of all of this shit, that does not mean you are like, you know, on a glowing lotus flower for all eternity. it's just kind of a momentary opportunity to realize the truth of universal oneness, which is, from this particular moment of time for me, just... so dreadfully boring and disappointing but also, you know, probably pretty true if you've managed to read all the way to the bottom here... you've surprised me. i think i'm just celebrating my ability to tweet whateeeeever i want to without it reflecting on anybody but myself and i fucking love it kthxbye

This stuff is literally not real. I give this feature 6-12 months tops before they remove it, bookmark this and confim. Like what do you mean you want me to pick how hard my model wants to try? I want it to try its hardest, always, and I want it to be fast. Why would I ever need to consider tradeoffs when doing knowledge work with AI.

Hardware wallets are great at one thing: keeping your keys off the internet. But your seed phrase is still a single point of failure — lose it, get phished, or disappear before telling anyone what the 24 words mean, and it doesn't matter how many steel plates you stamped.

prediction markets idea: a habit tracking app where you bet on yourself you commit to going to the gym 4 times this week and put $20 behind it your friends verify through location check-ins or photo proof if you hit it, you get your $20 back plus a cut from the pool of people who bet against themselves and failed prediction markets for personal accountability the mechanic works for studying, diet, screen time, sleep and anything with a verifiable outcome the app makes money from the people who consistently overestimate their discipline.

Most crypto recovery systems focus on who should get access. That's not the hard part. The hard part is when. Dead man's switches solve this — and the reason they work is that they're slow. 🧵
