I ran into an ex best friend of mine. We’re born an 1h apart. We were best friends from school - but he turned out to be a liar who used me as and when it suited him. I finally ended the friendship when I’d had enough. Years later he came up to me as if nothing happened.

@LuxeThe7thLotus The times I have seen him, he’s taken zero accountability, tried to reset as normal, or even frame the disintegration as mutual. He’s still sickly and overly performative. In general, I don’t like him and he no longer represents who I am or who I’m becoming. It’s good riddance.

@LuxeThe7thLotus So by that point, it had already been 4+ years of dealing with his behaviour. His treatment of others around him started adding up. It became clear this was a pattern, rather than an error. I was sad to end the friendship, mostly because I was still invested in the illusion.

It saddens me that so many people have gone through an avoidant discard. It’s not a normal breakup, it’s fundamentally one of the most traumatizing things you can experience.

I’ve survived enough weirdos to know that intense and instantaneous chemistry between people is rarely, if ever, organic. Somebody is usually lying or reflecting yourself back to you.

He’s been in jail since December 2024. Since then, I’ve celebrated a one year relationship, got promoted twice at my work, started and grew a tiktok account, travelled to Japan and Morocco, got injured whilst running, healed after months. He’s just been in jail.

Inflation; prices rise every six months. Penny pinching is the norm. Wages have stagnated for over a decade without any governmental intervention. And the greatest irony of it all? We’re lucky to land a shitty wage job in the first place. Welcome to late stage capitalism.

@unsusme You do realise the civil service is offering a voluntary exit scheme so it can get rid of 80% of its work force. They’re doing the same thing, just more diligently. The principle still applies; there is no work.

it’s genuinely horrific to be 18-25 in the uk right now like every week someone i know loses their job for seemingly no reason, the only people i know who have a job right now are people in hospitality/retail and they are all begging for more hours it feels so hopeless
