@TGeeB I don’t know T if devs want to use these tools that’s up to them, I think these demos shown are a poor representation and I’d like to see more of what it will actually look like.

@AnthonyCSN Using AI to ‘adjust lighting’ while it clearly alters faces isn’t enhancement, it’s manipulation. Nvidia shouldn’t normalize AI filters that blur the line between reality and editing.

@Winchester7314 @DaxterLightning I’ve seen how far some of this stuff has gone from Will Smith nightmare eating spaghetti to what It can do today. I assume they wouldn’t release something like this if it wasn’t pretty much consistent. As far as the toggle, devs choose to add DLSS to the game atm.

@AnthonyCSN @DaxterLightning Image consistency, if calculations are done in real time, two people could get two very distinctly different features. Its a matter of consistency. And you think this won't eventually get trickled out to just be a nvidia toggle, that overrides the devs wishes?

@FearTheGrim Sure that I can agree with, I still think the tech is cool and writing it off immediately isn’t the best way to go, but it’s definitely immoral to cast aside the people that built them.

@AnthonyCSN Nvidia (no new gpus this year) and micron (left consumer ram market) both to focus on generative ai. I cant support the result of anti consumer moves on that scale. This isn’t making a game exclusive or adding a battlepass. This affects EVERYONE negatively no matter the result.

@Winchester7314 @DaxterLightning Well I’m glad you know what that is, so many people just say “AI” bad as some blanket term. If the devs make a filter and put it on there game what’s wrong with that?

@AnthonyCSN @DaxterLightning Congrats, you totally bought all of the useless jargon marketing words, that fluff up a "llm", while also not contradicting exactly what I said. Its applying ai filters to the flat rastered output frames.

@AnthonyCSN Honestly not insufferable enough, it requires 2 5090s to even use it and it uses generative Ai that superimposed Ana De Armas face over the grace model and it was extremely obvious it did it.

@FearTheGrim I’m sure the big ones that are out there yeah, but a large language model can just be created whenever. I could start taking pictures of stuff today and start training it, hopefully game Studios will do that as well create their own from the ground up.

@AnthonyCSN Even if it’s not being trained that way, they all STARTED that way. We’ve been training models without knowing for years now.

@FearTheGrim And I feel like they are making things that some of us already own better than when we bought them. DLSS has extended the life of my 20 series card years at this point.

@AnthonyCSN My problem is that we’ve already seen it start to replace concept artists. For Marvel and Disney, for seven days to die, for Destiny 2, even Baldurs Gate said they used it some. Not all replacements but when you ask the “can’t make anything new” machine, you get worse results.

@FearTheGrim Yeah I am disappointed that the big studios that should have plenty of money are cutting corners like that. If a company does that and people are against it, they should not give them their money. However, I don’t feel Nvidia is doing that with this tech.

@Winchester7314 @DaxterLightning It passes it through a model that that right now I assume Nvidia curated for these games. I would hope when this tool is released developers could create their own models for their game. AI is just a thing that thinks quickly and they have gotten it so fast we can play games.

@AnthonyCSN @DaxterLightning That's LITERALLY what it does tho. Its taking the processed frames from your gpu, and passes them through ai before sending it to your display. Like, you're just completely wrong here.

@TESSERACT___ @AnthonyCSN @DaxterLightning Nope, it’s pretty clear how ai works. The only ones that do not understand where they’re going is people like you that keep riding this thing without questioning its use and the consequences.

@TESSERACT___ It does seem like that unfortunately people just have that one line, I want to continue the conversation because there are some things that is bad about AI just not everything and that’s what people can’t seem to grasp. I get how it’s frustrating though for sure.

There's no arguing with them. Half of them are AI Activists now since regurgitating "AI bad" nets them more engagement than they've ever had in their lives, especially the ones who made bad art. The other half have absolutely no idea how anything works now and going forward and are completely cooked. "It's just AI, which I hate" People just now entering the workforce should probably pour fuel on the anti-AI fire and gatekeep the success. Encourage them to walk out on the job when the employer makes everyone use and AI integrated ticketing system all day. Take their escalations and use AI to resolve tougher cases and get promoted to Tier 2 and leave them in the dust. I've been encouraging game developers to be anti AI while I finish and launch my UE5 application that connects users directly to ChatGPT. Fuck it. If they're that slow pass them up.

@FearTheGrim As far as the artists I don’t think this will replace as much as people think, game devs used to place every light in older games, but in modern engines they do a lot of the work. Idk if that made video games less of an art from just different.

@AnthonyCSN To fit in a tweet -Energy cost/consumption + inflation of tech prices directly caused by companies (especially Nvidia) creating gen AIs. -The generative AI models being trained on stolen art or without people’s knowledge. -Concept artists being replaced is bad for movies/games
